UEFA Champions League (Official Thread)

I know, I'm just partial to the assist-man usually :)

Same here. A lot of the time, they make more of a play than the goalscorer.

Halftime scores (Home team listed first)

Galatasaray 0-1 Real Madrid. Madrid up 4-0 on aggregate. This one's over, Madrid are through to the semi's.

Borussia Dortmund 1-1 Malaga. Malaga up 1-1 on aggregate courtesy of the away goals rule. BVB got that huge goal from Lewandowski right before the half & need at least one more to advance. Should be a highly dramatic 2nd half, hopefully.

Joaquin almost bagged himself a second after a remarkably worked set piece. Wiedenfeller made the rare, but useful wrist save to deny him at essentially point blank range.

Note: Wiedenfeller looks IDENTICAL to Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jaime Lannister in HBO's Game of Thrones.

That might be all she wrote for Borussia Dortmund. Eliseu taps in an open net from what looked like an offside position. Isco did great to set up Baptista, who got it past Wiedenfeller for Eliseu to poke in. BVB were the victims of two absolutely remarkable saves from Malaga's 'keeper, Willy. He denied Reus with the outside of his left leg at point blank range, while denying Gotze with the outside of his left foot a few moments later.

No idea what just happened, but Malaga completely capitulated. Borussia Dortmund score two goals in a mere minute to go ahead 3-2 on aggregate in added time. Unbelievable.

Borussia Dortmund advance to the semi-finals. They looked completely finished, yet got two in stoppage time to win 3-2 on the night & aggregate. That has to be the craziest finish I've ever seen in a UCL game.

Santana was offside on the match winner...

But so were Eliseu, Ibrahimovic & Mandzukic on the Muller goal. That's four offside goals that stood in this stage alone. That should NEVER happen. Granted, the Mandzukic one was extremely close, so I won't harp on that one all that much. The Eliseu one was fairly close, but still offside & the Ibrahimovic one wasn't even remotely close. UEFA needs to get there shit together with these linesman. This should not be an issue at the quarter-final stage, let alone any stage at all. Real shame.

The Santana one I can somewhat understand, not many can think of the two man rule in the heat of the moment.

The rest are atrocious.

Matter of fact, whoever headed the ball down was offsides as well

We'll just mark that one down as a complete calamity & leave it at that. Doesn't matter anyhow as Borussia Dortmund are through.

Real Madrid & Borussia Dortmund are in. Bayern Munich look to be in great shape to advance as well being up 2-0 on Juventus, but I wouldn't mark them down quite yet. The Barcelona-PSG game is a toss up to me. Barcelona are without Puyol & Mascherano, so CB will be a monumental concern for the 2nd leg as will the availability of Messi. They're really mum on whether or not he'll play, but I'd bet on him playing, despite the risk. I really think Barcelona's even more abysmal defense now with the losses will lose this, despite holding a 2-2 aggregate lead on away goals. PSG showed in the first 20 minutes last game what they can do with Lavezzi & Lucas Moura's speed on the counter & I think they will make Barcelona pay dearly.
