UEFA Champions League (Official Thread)

Starting lineups for today:

Barcelona: Valdes, Dani Alves, Pique, Adriano, Alba, Xavi, Busquets, Iniesta, Pedro, Fabregas & Villa

PSG: Sirigu, Jallet, Alex, Thiago Silva, Maxwell, Lucas Moura, Verratti, Motta, Pastore, Lavezzi & Ibrahimovic

Messi not in the starting lineup & it looks like Adriano to fill in at CB for Mascherano. I REALLY think PSG is going to win this one. Messi is Barcelona's only real scorer outside of David Villa & having a left back like Adriano, who's strong point isn't defending just spells out disaster. I think Lavezzi & Lucas Moura will have a field day with this squad.

Juventus: Buffon, Chiellini, Barzagli, Bonucci, Pogba, Marchisio, Padoin, Pirlo, Asamoah, Vucinic & Quagliarella

Bayern Munich: Neuer, Dante, van Buyten, Lahm, Alaba, Ribery, Martinez, Robben, Muller, Schweinsteiger & Mandzukic

Juventus in quite a hole down 2-0 on aggregate, but seeing as how Bayern Munich almost blew the 2nd leg at home last round against Arsenal, I guess anything is possible.

Wish I recall who it was on TalkSport (about 1-3 months ago) who said they hate the away goal emphasis in the Champions League.

People are being funny talking about (or wondering) how UEFA will "fix" the semifinal draw on Friday (two German clubs and two Spanish clubs).

Germany (Bayern Munich & Borussia Dortmund) vs. Spain (Barcelona & Real Madrid) in the Semi's. I'd love to see a Bayern Munich-Real Madrid rematch from last years Semi's, because it was a great series. Bayern Munich-Barcelona would probably be my ideal match up though, but I really wouldn't want to see a domestic Semi's between each playing the other from there own country.

Starting XI.

Bayern Munich: Neuer; Lahm, Boateng, Dante, Alaba; Mart?nez, Schweinsteiger; Robben, M?ller, Rib?ry & Gomez.

Barcelona: Valdes; Alves, Bartra, Pique, Alba; Xavi, Busquets, Iniesta; Pedro, Alexis & Messi.

Looks like Messi is fit enough to play, but how fit remains to be seen. With an inexperienced Bartra filling in at CB for Barcelona, look for Bayern Munich to exploit that weakness time & time again. I really think if Alba & Alves get caught going forward too often, they're going to get ran hard. Bayern loves the counter & this shambolic defense is ripe for them to rip apart.

First blood to Bayern Munich. Muller heading off of Valdes & into the net. Dante skied over Dani Alves to set it up. 27th minute.

Bayern Munich up 1-0 going into the half. Pretty subdued game so far. Bayern started off very well, but Barcelona got into there usual passing rhythm & ate into that. Barcelona haven't really created anything with all of that possession though as Bayern's defense has been stellar. Both teams pretty wasteful in the attacking end, but Bayern took full advantage of there chance.

Bayern grab an early 2nd courtesy of Mario Gomez. Almost a carbon copy of the first, although on a corner this time. Muller skies over Dani Alves (Seeing a theme here) to head it back to goal to Gomez for the tap in. Height advantage rearing its head.

Bayern putting Barcelona to the sword up 3-0 now courtesy of a nice Robben goal. Barcelona will be crying murder for Muller blatantly taking Alba out, but he wasn't going to catch back up with Robben anyways.
