UEFA Champions League (Official Thread)

Barcelona get a vital away goal at PSG five minutes before the half. Dani Alves with a delightful chip into the box, found Messi unmarked & you know the rest.

Halftime scores (Home team listed first)

Bayern Munich 1-0 Juventus
PSG 0-1 Barcelona

Bayern Munich got the opener within the first minute after a deflected David Alaba shot from distance found it's way past Buffon. Messi got Barcelona a big away goal five minutes from the half, courtesy of a splendid chip from Dani Alves.

Messi not coming back out for the second half. Got injured right before halftime. If there ever was a better opportunity to oust Barcelona, I can't think of one. Huge boost for PSG.

Bayern Munich bag a 2nd. Muller pokes in a simple tap in from Mandzukic following a spilled rebound off Buffon. Mandzukic appeared to be offside before the shot that Buffon saved was taken, so Juventus might have some hard feelings about that one & deservedly so.

PSG get one back. Thiago Silva header hit the post off a set piece & Ibrahimovic pounced on the rebound. He was clearly offside, so Barcelona will have the same beef Juventus had with the second Bayern Munich goal. Strange to see two offsides goals stand in this stage of the tournament.

Xavi converts from the spot to give Barcelona a second away goal. Alexis Sanchez baited Sirigu on a through ball & he bit hard, taking him down as Alexis Sanchez dragged the feet. Game is in stoppage time now.

PSG score on the last kick of the game. Matuidi's deflected shot leaves Valdes unable to stop it. Game ends 2-2. What a finish to this game.

Full time scores (Home team listed first)

Bayern Munich 2-0 Juventus
PSG 2-2 Barcelona

Juventus were the victims of a wicked deflection & an offside goal, but they were completely & utterly outplayed throughout. The scoreline is a real reflection of the game, even if the goals themselves weren't fully deserved.

PSG played pretty awful, but will count there blessings as they scored an offside goal & got a fortuitous bounce on the final kick of the game to get there second. Messi injury will be the real story as he went off at the half after scoring right before it. Sirigu was clumsy to take down Alexis Sanchez & gift Barca with a penalty, which Xavi calmly converted. Should be an enthralling second leg with Barca's defense being in shambles, yet still as dangerous as ever in attack. This one could go either way, but I think PSG will make them pay for letting them back in this one next Wednesday. They still have an uphill battle with giving up the two away goals, but this Barca defense is abysmal & I think they will finally crack in the 2nd leg.

Anyone notice kind of a slight delay in the audio on both/either FSN or FOX Soccer's broadcast of Tuesday's Champions League games (both)?

It was almost like the action already happened and the commentator would then announce it (not the normal commentator delay). It was kind of noticeable on Bayern's first goal (at least to me).

Starting XI for today.

Galatasary: Muslera, Gokhan Zan, Semin Kaya, Eboue, Altintop, Selcuk Inan, Melo, Riera, Sneijder, Umut Bulut & Drogba.

Real Madrid: Lopez, Essien, Pepe, Varane, Coentrao, Khedira, Modric, Di Maria, Ozil, Ronaldo & Higuain.

Real Madrid hold a commanding 3-0 lead on aggregate, so Galatasaray would need something of a miracle if they were to advance, let alone make this a contest.

Borussia Dortmund: Weidenfeller, Piszczek, Subotic, Felipe Santana, Schmelzer, Gundogan, Bender, Blaszczykowski, Gotze, Reus & Lewandowski.

Malaga: Willy, Jesus Gamez, Demichelis, Sergio Sanchez, Antunes, Joaquin, Toulalan, Camacho, Duda, Isco & Julio Baptista.

Aggregate is tied at 0-0, so an opening goal for either side will put them ahead. Hard to bet against Borussia Dortmund at home in front of that stellar crowd.

Kickoffs at 2:45 pm.

Malaga get a monumental away goal for the opener, courtesy of Joaquin. Made a nice fake shot attempt to bring it on his left foot & placed it wisely low and in the right corner. 28th minute. BVB need two now.

Borussia Dortmund bring one back courtesy of a splendidly worked goal that Lewandowski finished. Forced a turnover near midfield & worked it wonderfully up top for Lewandowski to dink it over the 'keeper & tap it in. Malaga still lead 1-1 on aggregate, because of the away goal. 43rd minute.

Marco Reus...utterly ridiculous touch on that assist. My god.

Very impressive, but so was Lewandowski's touch over the goalie for the tap in. Both looked effortless. It was just a well worked goal from everyone involved.
