UEFA Champions League (Official Thread)

Just want to say that the Gus Johnson experiment is going pretty well in my book. You can tell he's done a ton of research Pre match and knows each player pretty well. Maybe his analysis game isn't quite up to par yet but that's what the color commentator is for.

He said he's going to stick around Europe for another few weeks attending matches and the like in order to get more acclimated which I think is pretty cool.

Borussia Dortmund the first to draw blood this day. Take a commanding 3-2 lead on aggregate (Two away goals in first leg) through a powerful header by Felipe Santana off a corner. He just towered over his marker and his header was perfectly placed at the near post, over the head of the near post defender.

Borussia Dortmund add a quick second goal. Mario Gotze with a tidy finish in the box following a nice low cross by Robert Lewandowski. This one looks to be all but over for Shakhtar Donetsk being down 4-2 on aggregate & BVB have two away goals.

Tense first half at Old Trafford. United very disciplined at the back & giving Madrid no quarter. Pressing them hard virtually every time they touch the ball in there half. United were very dangerous on the counter earlier in the half, but have settled for a more conservative & resolute approach. It's worked well so far & only a vital mistake or something spectacular by Madrid is going to break them down. Di Maria got subbed off right before the half for an apparent hamstring injury. Kaka', who absolutely owned United back in '07 came on for him & will look to bring some of that magic from yesteryear with him.

Sergio Ramos OG. I don't really think he could've done anything about it as Nani's cross had some power to it & it deflected off of Welbeck's foot ever so slightly right before hitting Ramos. Madrid needed a goal anyways, but this is great insurance for United. Should be balls to the wall for Mourinho & co. now.

Ridiculous card. They're going to be talking about that for a long time to come. Completely bogus. Changed the game completely.

I don't know about that. Kicked him in the stomach, but it was an odd play.

Extremely poor judgement by Nani's part no doubt, but to give him a straight red for that ? I'm not so sure. I've seen much worse not even get a yellow. I think it was a bit harsh & given the circumstances, it's obviously going to be blown out of proportion.

That didn't take long. Ronaldo no less.

Looks like United are toast now. Can't see them getting two goals in the next 20 minutes with ten men. That card completely changed everything as expected. Just didn't think so soon.
