UEFA Champions League (Official Thread)

Starting XI for Madrid:

Arbeloa--Ramos--Pepe--Marcelo
-------Alonso----Khedira------
Di Maria-----Ozil-----Ronaldo
----------Benzema-----------

Would rather see Higuain get the start over Benzema and have Karim come on in the 65th-70th.

Starting XI for Munich:

Lahm--Boateng--Badstuber--Alaba
--Schweinsteiger---Gustavo-----
Robben------Kroos-----Ribery
------------Gomez--------------

Whatever the reason, I'm ecstatic Mueller is not starting today. He's too much of a liability with limited attacking presence. Kroos is a much better matchup to go against Khedira and Alonso. Also, the entire back line of Munich with yellows, as well as Gustavo and Kroos. That will be something to keep in mind. Bayern gets even two yellow, and they are crippled for the Final, which bodes well for Chelsea.

Alaba with a handball in the box in the 5th minute. Yellow carded. Out of the Final if Bayern advances.

CR7 sinks the PK. Aggregate tied at 2-2, but Madrid holds tie-break with the away goal.

Was a good call by the ref.

I thought it was harsh. You could maybe call the handball and have to give the PK because it's in the box, but I thought it was ball to hand and not intentional. Card was just insult to injury.

But now it really doesn't matter. If you didn't think Ronaldo was going to have a great game you were out of your mind. Already two on the sheet, could be more.

The scoring machine strikes again. Munich looks too afraid to make challenges. Can't have that mentality against Madrid. Game is still far from over, though.

If Munich can manage one goal, the aggregate is tied.

I agree, only reason I say it's a good call was BECAUSE it was in the box. That's it. If it were outside the box, I doubt play is even stopped.

You can just tell, with the intensity Madrid is bringing, that they want this game more than Bayern. Which is somewhat hard to believe considering this is all Munich has to play for..

And a penalty given in favor of Munich!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Robben sinks the PK!!!!!!!!! Aggregate tied!

Manuel Neuer came up big with the two opening saves on Cristiano Ronaldo & Kaka. Madrid were behind 2-0 from the start of the PK's. That Sergio Ramos attempt is probably orbiting the Earth as we speak

Congrats to Bayern but I want to once again point out my disdain for penalties. I really didn't care who won. Give me endless overtime instead of penalties. Great goalkeeping by both sides though.

I think you would have to add more subs if you were to play endless overtime as well as going back to the golden goal rule. Many of the players from both sides were completely exhausted before penalties. Bayern only used one sub during the game & it came in extra time. I despise penalties as well but I could see some of these games turning into endless stalemates if they were to play until a goal was scored.
