UEFA Champions League (Official Thread)

Two big games for two of the semi-finalists today.

Real Madrid take on Atletico Madrid only up a single point on Barcelona, who won yesterday, 4-0 against Getafe. Don't expect this Derby to be anything special despite Real Madrid's recent La Liga woes as they demolish Atletico Madrid virtually every time they play them. Still a vital game for Real Madrid, who head to the Camp Nou to take on Barcelona in next Saturday's El Cl?sico. Real Madrid have seen a 10 point lead over Barcelona evaporate into a one point lead (four if they win as expected) in only the last few weeks.

The bigger of today's game will go along way in deciding who wins the Bundesliga, with only four games left to play after today. Bayern Munich head to Dortmund to take on first place Borussia Dortmund, who hold a three point edge over Bayern. Bayern Munich will look to vault themselves into first place with a win over the defending champs.

Real Madrid did there job albeit it took until a 68th minute wonder strike from Cristiano Ronaldo to put them ahead. He added a penalty later to finish his hat trick before setting up Callejon for the 4th as they defeated Atletico Madrid 4-1 to move back up four points on Barcelona.

Bayern Munich were defeated by Borussia Dortmund by 1-0 as Arjen Robben turned in a horrid final 15 minutes. He kept Robert Lewandowski onside for BVB's opener late in the game. Then after he drew a penalty on the Dortmund keeper, this happened:

Pretty classless move by Neven Subotic to do what he did, but I found it amusing nonetheless. In extra time, Subotic (of all people) headed a cross off his own crossbar & Robben pouncing on the loose ball, smashed it over the open goal & that was that. Borussia Dortmund moved six points clear of Bayern Munich with four games left to play in the Bundesliga. I think it's safe to say it's Dortmund's title to lose now & a 2nd straight Bundesliga crown is looking likeley.

Bayern came up BIG in the 89th minute yesterday to capture a 2-1 win at Allianz Arena.

Chelsea comes up HUGE in the second minute of stoppage time in the first half. 1-0 at the half. Keep it up blues!

Barcelona starting lineup: Valdes, Puyol, Mascherano, Pique, Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas, Sanchez, Cuenca & Messi.

This lineup just screams Chelsea counter attack. This "much vaunted" 3-4-3 formation they've used throughout the season hasn't worked very well at all so you know Pep is getting desperate. I definitely see Chelsea scoring at least one goal with this lineup.

Chelsea starting lineup: Cech, Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Cole, Meireles, Mikel, Lampard, Ramires, Mata, Drogba

So Alves is dropped from the attack and Cuenca comes on. Xavi, Iniesta, and Fabregas in the midfield at the same time. Pique back.

Chelsea can score a decisive goal against this lineup. Mata is going to have to get on the ball often. Drogba isn't going to menace Piqu? the same way he can with Mascherano.

Gary Cahill off for Bosingwa. Apparently pulled something. Chelsea stern at the back & fortunate Messi has been awful throughout the first 14 minutes.

Peter Cech with an amazing foot save on an open Messi. Chelsea still standing firm at the back.

Dani Alves coming on for Pique, as expected. Valdes foolishly punched a ball when he easily could've grabbed it & smashed into Pique. Concussion, no doubt. This should be REALLY interesting now with Alves in because he can't defend and will probably be used on the left wing with Cuenca.

WOW. Of all people to score for Barcelona, It's Sergio Busquets. 1-0 Barcelona. 35th minute. Chelsea got sleeping on the left & Dani Alves played an open Cuenca who slotted Busquets open on net.
