UEFA Champions League (Official Thread)

On the other hand, Messi is renowned for his penchant to stay on his feet and avoid the dive at all costs.

(Not disagreeing with your overall point- the corner kick PK was absurd and the refs seem to routinely be the topic of discussion in Barca games, which is not good for the sport. Just showing some love to Messi.)

Which makes it even worse when he goes down rather easily. On the same coin, I think it's more of Pep's tactics than Messi's focus on greatness.

Believe me, I'd never discount what Messi has been able to do this far in his career. He's the worlds best ST, RW, CF, and it isn't even close. He literally can play just about anyone out of their boots. Only CB's who can hold their own against Messi would be Thiago Silva, Lucio, and the other two are already on his squad (Pique and Puyol). He's phenomenal.

I just don't think Barca should have to resort to such shenanigans, when they are the world's best, and likely to repeat.

The dark arts of Barca. They'll be in full effect vs Chelsea you can be sure. Chelsea will try to bully them off of the pitch as has almost worked for them in the past. The referee draw for the game is going to be almost as crucial as the starting Chelsea lineup.

It's funny because the Group Phase matchups between Milan and Barca were GREAT! Super exciting to watch. No bullshit flopping.

They must have felt the most threatened by ACM.

What always happens in the CL matches is once they get a sense that the ref will give it to them, they milk it. Leg 1 Erikson wasn't calling many fouls. Leg 2 different story.

However, it must be said, Barca outplayed Milan in both legs.

1st leg was about as even as it gets. 2nd leg, it's hard to stay positive when your getting fucked by the refs. It's classic Milan. They feel a game isn't going their way, they pack it up. It sucks, but I don't disagree with what they do either. It isn't the first time this season they've had some really REALLY terrible calls go against them.

Like the Juventus-Milan game a few weeks ago. Ended in a 1-1 draw, but that's because a goal was taken off the board when Muntari clearly volleyed the ball into the goal, and Buffon does his best acting job of making the "save". Here's a still frame of the "no goal"

Looks shockingly like Ibrahimovic's dive against Arsenal at the San Siro.

Poor Milan, such a tortured club.

Yeah, because clearly Milan scores by setting screens in a fucking soccer game. :shake:

Besides, you're going to complain about that while your team gets smacked 4-0? :roll2:

Arsenal had their opportunity in the return leg, and Milan nearly shit the bed against them.

Apart from playing the ref with their bullshit in the second half in London when they were getting run off the pitch, they scored after Ibrahimovic was "taken down" in a fucking soccer game, same as Sergio Busquets. I'm sure you were weeping blood after their offside goal and when a penalty wasn't given for that foul on van Persie as well.

Of course, everyone is out to get Milan. :(

Where's the evidence of this? Why am I hearing about this "shit" call NOW and not back when it happened? I'd have sympathy if it were STILL being scrutinized to this day but clearly it wasn't as bad as you imply.

 You crack me up.. You really do. Arsenal had their chance, came back, and lost... Milan did your guys a favor in eliminating them. It would have been 10-2 aggregate had they faced Barca.

What I'm pointing out isn't breaking news by any means. In fact, Barcelona and Real Madrid set soccer back about 50 years with that shitty showing they gave us last year in the UCL semi's. It's not a new thing.

But yes, you're right... It's EVERYONE out to get Milan. :shake:

I've said time and time again... Barcelona is the world's best. They shouldn't have to resort to flopping to get the job done.

It wasn't any better than Sergio Busquets falling over. You're probably hearing about it now because not everyone here gets sandy vaginitis whenever their team concedes a penalty.

My point isn't about Arsenal losing, it's about your blinders and conveniently selective memory. But if talking shit about beating the 3rd/4th/5th best team in a down Premier League makes you feel better, go for it, champ.

Teams being on the bad end of refereeing decisions isn't a new thing. It was pretty funny seeing Ibragoal bitch about it in the media though, not a poetic justice fan I guess.

:slappy: That's a flop? Just stop.

Blinders and convenient selective memory? Perhaps you are referring to yourself, because that my friend was a legitimate foul. He moves the ball past Johan Djourou, Djourou then makes contact with Ibra's leg, throwing his run off balance. What about that was a flop? Please fill me in since I'm so selective with what is and isn't a flop. I'd love to hear what you've got for me, champ.

Anyway...watching the Chelsea match...they just didn't look very organized. I'm glad they made it this far..but I just don't see how they can possibly be competitive with Barca given both side's current form.

Bayern and Real is going to be epic...as will the final.

Have faith! We can do this! Theres no pressure on Chelsea in this tie, we are expected to get rolled.
