I wholly agree with all of this. I just think that any coach, not just one with a rep for “developing” QBs, should be expected to have some kind of answer at the position going in to his fourth year other than a transfer because he hasn’t got one in house.

It’s astounding, really. The hype train upon his arrival was fully stocked and barreling down the tracks and he couldn’t get ONE guy who could come in and do the job? That guy should be a senior or redshirt junior. That guy, whoever it would have been, should be the answer to the QB situation this year. But he didn’t get one so still, the next year after his first season, he couldn’t get anyone to fill those shoes of the former GREATS :slappy:before him? That guy would be a junior or redshirt sophomore this year. He should be the answer. No? Well then Harbaugh certainly found a guy in last years class to sit one year and take over this year, right?

Hmmmm. Seems to me that if anyone wants to be a college coach and stick around for a while, he might want to recruit and develop a QB. Damn, Jimbo, everyone knows that.

His best QB has been O’Korn and even that guy was a transfer.
What happened to Peters and McCaffrey being the saviors of scUM, and making Hairball continue his schtick as the QB whisperer?

This bears emphasis. These cockgoblins think Mississippi Jesus is gonna come in and make them a 10 or 11 win team.... It's not like they hadn't already had similar talent on the roster. Both McCaffrey and Peters were highly rated Pro style QB recruits. Maybe the problem they have isn't the talent, but the coaching and/or the culture Captain Asperger's has created.... err... perpetuated.

we really need need to keep a tally of savior QB's to put DFBIA's dumbassery in perspective. Let's go back to Rich Rod and the tater tot hype and go from there. How many guys in a row was it that were better than Pryor?

Pryor was a 2008 recruit.... Thus...

2008 - Dick tried to seduce Pryor with his snake oil, but hedged his bets with eventual failed cocaine dealer, Justin Feagin - an ATH from Florida who held offers to play WR at LSU and DB at Miami
2009 - There was some other guy (Or maybe it was Feagin.. who knows all these guys look the same to me), but the "Better than Pryor" hype began with Shavodrick Beaver who, despite being better than Pryor de-committed from scUM in favor of...... Tulsa. It was a tough week for scUM, as Sam McGuffie also left the program earlier in the week of Beaver's de-commitment.
2009 - Tater Tot was projected to lead them to the promised land, and he did win a September Heisman
2009 - Denard Robinson was an ATH in this class. Despite not knowing how to tie his shoes, he would become scUM's QB and, of course, unstoppable touchdown machine. Robinson won his own September Heisman, but tapped out of many games as his frail body couldn't handle the weekly pounding he was subjected to.
2009 - also featured the commitment of, and subsequent de-commitment of eventual Temple Owl Kevin Newsome Newsome was rated the 1 pro style QB in his class and number 2 overall recruit. He had been a PSU recruit prior to his pledge to scUM. I don't remember this guy, maybe @LordJeffBuck does. But, to be that highly ranked, I have to think there was some off the field issues that ended him up at Temple.
2010 - Devin Gardner. Well, he was the number 2 rated dual threat QB in his class. I am sure he won at least one September Heisman. I am also sure he couldn't throw his way out of a paper bag... well.. unless that bag was wearing his opponent's uniform
2011 - Russell Bellomy. Amounted to squat, but unlike classmate Frank Clark, did not commit any felonies. Well, at least not that I recall.
2011 - Kevin Sousa committed and de-committed. He ended up at Wake Forest, I guess, where he didn't do anything either.
2012 - After flipping human turnstile Kyle KaLLLLLis, scUM decided they didn't need a QB in this class... and, what... with all that talent still on the roster, who could blame them.
2013 - Shane... lmao... Shane... lmao... Shane... fucking... lmao.. Morris.
2014 - Wilton Speight... all things considered, this eventual transfer out has probably been the best of this bunch.
2015 - Zach Gentry, number 8 pro style QB in the class... now plays TE
2015 - Alex Malzone... yeah, I forgot about him too.
2015 - John O'Korn transfers in... gets some starts... is bad at football
2015 - Jake Ruddock... graduate transfer in, starts all season... is serviceable.
2016 - Brandon Peters....Gave him a shot.. turns out he sucks
2017 - Dylan McCaffrey... sucks worse than Peters, I guess.
2018 - Incoming Transfer Mississippi Jesus.... because... Peters and McCaffrey suck

Maybe I missed someone.

Newsome signed with Penn State in 2009, played there for a couple of years, then transferred to Temple due to a combination of academics and lack of talent. Here's a link to his Penn State bio from the media guide prior to the 2011 season.
