I guess I'm misremembering the universal acclaim that Rodriguez's hiring was greeted with among the DFBIA.

Given what any rational person with understanding of the situation knew, we were then doomed [when Rich Rodriguez was hired] to at least four years of rebuilding a roster that didn't need to be rebuilt, except to accommodate a new coach whose schemes were completely ill-suited to the guys on the roster. Oh bulllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll shit. There are a lot of things I'll let go or just straight up forget. How Rich Rod was going to bring the spread to the B1G and dominate the rest of this slow ass league is not one of them. We were all laughed at for not pissing down our legs and begging for mercy at the mere hire of the guy.
