You don't say....Even though Michigan has been a viable contender in this recruitment, it always felt like Nolen was going to end up with an SEC school and that looks more likely now.

Michigan crystal balls for uncommitted recruits:All the hoopla about "bright young recruiters"
They MIGHT add 1 or 2 more 4* tops. Its looking like a class with more 500+ overall rated players than not, like the 2018 disaster.
This is growing into a trend, them somehow managing to exceed expectations for one year this season is not going to automatically fix it either.
Recruit Name | Pos | 247 Rate | 247 Rank | CB % |
---|---|---|---|---|
Oscar Delp | TE | 95.86 | #94 | 33% |
Dillon Tatum | ATH | 90.47 | #267 | 100% |
Deone Walker | DL | 89.50 | #326 | 100% |
Ja'Kobi Albert | ATH | 89.00 | #358 | 33% |
Dillon Bell | WR | 87.29 | #567 | 100% |
Jeremy Patton | WR | 87.10 | #589 | 7.7% |
Deuce Spurlock | ATH | 84.16 | #1196 | 50% |
And on that note, Wiltfong dropped his CB for Bell to 1… consensus is that Jawja will land him. Incredible.Michigan crystal balls for uncommitted recruits:
A few notes on the above....
Recruit Name Pos 247 Rate 247 Rank CB % Oscar Delp TE 95.86 #94 33% Dillon Tatum ATH 90.47 #267 100% Deone Walker DL 89.50 #326 100% Ja'Kobi Albert ATH 89.00 #358 33% Dillon Bell WR 87.29 #567 100% Jeremy Patton WR 87.10 #589 7.7% Deuce Spurlock ATH 84.16 #1196 50%
Oscar Delp is a Sam Webb Special. Blue Sam cast his Michigan CB way back on September 23, 2020, and has not updated it since then. In the meantime, SEVEN other experts (including Wiltfong) have cast CBs for Georgia.
Jeremy Patton has only one Michigan CB (from, you guessed it, Sam Webb), but it is the most recent CB cast (July 14th), so maybe Blue Sam will get this one right.
The most recent CBs for Albert and Spurlock are against Michigan (Auburn and Mississippi State, respectively).
If Michigan should land all three 100% CB targets (Tatum, Walker, Bell) and their most recent CB (Patton), then their class would have 20 commitments with a total score of 229.02 points (up from 212.21 points) and an average per recruit of 88.52 (up slightly from 88.50).
By way of comparison, Ohio State currently has 17 commitments with a total score of 286.97 and an average per recruit of 94.37 ... and the Buckeyes are still legit contenders for at least a half dozen top prospects (Zion Branch, Xavier Nwankpa, Earnest Greene, Kam Dewberry, Chris McClellan, Kenyatta Jackson, Caden Curry, Hero Kanu).
Talent gap, anyone?
They basically recruited themselves out of the Delp sweepstakes by accepting commitments from the #518 composite, #27 TE AND the #587 composite, #29 TE.Michigan crystal balls for uncommitted recruits:

But I thought all of the yoot on their coaching staff would attract these kind of guys???They basically recruited themselves out of the Delp sweepstakes by accepting commitments from the #518 composite, #27 TE AND the #587 composite, #29 TE.
I’m sure it was through 4D chess recruiting and not incompetence, laziness, or just plain giving up.

Not a lot of movement for Michigan guys. Some guys you would have expected to make a decent jump and they actually moved down slightly.

I really wonder what they sold Johnson and if at some point he will wake up.
He is like a question on the SAT exam "Which of these is not like the others?"
Being a legacy has got to be the only thing clinging on there. I'd assume he has a change of heart if their season doesn't go ok enough.
Funny thing is they still think they can flip Domani Jackson from USC, even though they can't even reel in low rated 3* DBs they were supposedly the front runners for.
A bad season can also work in scUM's favor. Hairball can sell him on early PT and the fact that he'd be a legend and turn scUM around.
