Just committed to UNC, the amount of guys DFBIA has sworn they were going to get that end up committing elsewhere this year is comically high.

I'm sure that's been the sell from the start. I think the "legacy" angle works in their favor and, barring an absolute disaster of a season (which is quite possible) and the hiring of an all new coaching staff that he doesn't mesh with, he probably sticks. It doesn't matter, though. Given their track record with supposed elite recruits, he isn't making much of a dent in the overall mediocrity up there. Outside of him, that is an incredibly underwhelming, DickRod-level recruiting class that isn't going to move the needle in the right direction.A bad season can also work in scUM's favor. Hairball can sell him on early PT and the fact that he'd be a legend and turn scUM around.

Remember, posts exist of the DFBIA buying into “the new staff is killing it on the recruiting trail”.

Its going to take something extreme for this season to be an absolute disaster. And its going to take a season with less than 6 wins for that, and for Johnson to even consider decomitting. But even as good as he may be, he's going to soon understand that only being 1 player isn't going to make much difference on a bad defense(a point that Daxton Hill is finding out as we speak). And in the end, this will drastically affect his draft stock
Wow, you must be psychic, or something....Without even looking, I am absolutely sure DFBIA is saying they are making room for a higher-rated prospect.
Not a great shock. I think many suspected he would not end up in the class.
Do you think having a guy that might not ever see the field, or may end up transferring is better than just starting from scratch?
Michigan is a better position with DT's then they were when Miles committed. This makes sense and quite frankly should be seen as a positive development.
Yeah, I guess the new staff isn't just taking anybody after all.
It reads like Michigan said thanks, no thanks to him & he's trying to convince them that they made the wrong decision.
Not sure of the full story, but it's been mentioned that he and Connor Jones have been working to re-earn their offers/justify their commitments with the new staff.
I don’t think there needs to be anything extreme for this season to be a disaster for them. The defense was already terrible last year and they are going to attempt a scheme change this year. The offense has no identity, there’s no playmakers, they aren’t going to near be able to make up for the benny hill defense.
Michigan is still in great shape with a number of interior prospects, including the similar but much larger Deone Walker of Cass Tech, Cincy commit Derrick Shepard, rising Canadian Isaiah Hastings, South Carolingian Robby Harrison, and even #1 national DT Walter Nolen.
Hey, he's all the way up at #623 overall! Improvement!"Rising Canadian" lol
