After whiffing on Sebastian Cheeks, Crystal balls pouring in for another "riser"

#586 overall #62 LBer. I guess at least he cracked the top 100 in the state of Texas

This is the guy they claim is bumping Deuce Spurlock (#1193, #102 ATH) out of the class, for those keeping track of the masterful recruiting machine they’re running.

To emphasize the point again, it’s humorous that their scouting is masterful at identifying these diamonds in the rough… until they process them out of the class.

So were they masterfully scouted, under-the-radar prospects? Or were they not that good and being recruited over?

Just another aspect of the D in DFBIA.

 "they are saving room for higher rated prospects" - DFBIA..........."Higher Rated" isnt saying much when the guy getting bumped doesnt even crack the top 1000

The 6-foot-4, 300-pounder who is ranked third overall in the 247 sports composite rankings for 2022 would be a program-changing addition for the Wolverines
Rashawn Gary
Jabrill Peppers
Donovan Peoples-Jones
Aubrey Solomon
Daxton Hill
JJ McCarthy
Walter Nolon

To paraphrase Dave Grohl; done, done and we're on to the next one done and we're done and we're on to the next.

That would be:

Pollard - OLB
3-star #550, #56 LB

Deone Walker - NT
3-star, #366, #53 DL
from Cass Tech

Ja’Kobi Albert - ATH(Secondary)
3-star, #368, #27 ATH

Deuce Spurlock - ATH(Secondary/WR)
3-star, #1143, #101 ATH

Dillon Tatum - ATH(RB/S)
4-star, #257, #13 ATH
A battle with MSU that they may be losing, as they point out in the comments

He doesn’t talk to Harbaugh, coach Tucker talks to him a lot.

Dillon Bell - RB/WR
3-star, #568, #75 WR

With the long shots:

Walter Nolen - DT (There is a chance)
We’ve discussed

Keon Sabb - Safety (Waiting to see how Michigan’s season plays out)
They didn’t even make his top 6 schools

Sebastian Cheeks - LB (Notre Dame/Michigan)
4-star, #126, #13 LB
From Illinois, looks like no one really has an idea of where he might be going, but between Notre Dame, Texas, North Carolina, Oregon, Wisconsin he has plenty of better options that hopefully he’s smart enough to take

Jahlil Florence - Secondary (Michigan)
3-star, #386, #37 CB
They appear to be battling Syracuse here if the 247 rating is accurate, most of the Pac10 not named USC has also offered

Joshua Josephs - LB (Tennessee)
3-star, #527, #26 EDGE
247 says Kentucky, Penn State, Tennessee battle

Jeremy Patton - ATH (Texas)
3-star, #591, #63 LB
Looks like it’s a Texas/Baylor battle with Michigan running third at best

Even their absolute best case scenario being projected here (going way out on a limb and assuming Nolen and Sabb are out) is extremely mediocre.

May things crash and burn (like Will Johnson bouncing to USC) and only end up worse for them. It seems plausible they won’t get a single targeted “maybe” prospect, not like it would be a great haul if they did manage it either way.

We’ve got an update here.

MJ14

July 29th, 2021 at 8:06 PM ^

I’m copying what I wrote a few weeks back here:

Michigan looks good for:

Pollard - OLB (Commit)

Deone Walker - NT (Commit coming soon)

Ja’Kobi Albert - ATH (Auburn may be leader now)

Deuce Spurlock - ATH (Miss State may be leader now/seems destined for the south)

Dillon Tatum - ATH (I still say Michigan leads. Others say MSU might lead. I believe he ends up at Michigan)

Dillon Bell - RB/WR (Michigan is the leader but interest is picking up in the south heavily)

Michigan has work to do with:

Walter Nolen - DT (There is a chance)

Keon Sabb - Safety (Committed to Clemson)

Sebastian Cheeks - LB (Committed to UNC)

Jahlil Florence - Secondary (Probably staying West now)

Joshua Josephs - LB (Tennessee probably leads)

Jeremy Patton - ATH (Projected to UM)

Michigan now has commits or should get a commit from 3 of the 6 I said they looked good for. I believe another one will end up at Michigan which would put them at 4 of 6.

They should pick up Patton now to replace one of the other 2. They still need a minimum of two offensive linemen and they’ll save a spot for Walter until the end. Michigan is at 15 commits after losing Miles. Patton will put them at 16. They 3 I have them projected for would put them at 19. They have room for 25. That leaves a spot for 6. They’ll leave open something for Walter until the end. They need a minimum of 2 lineman and will probably try to find 3. So that leaves somewhere between 2-4 open spots depending on Walter.
Pollard
3-star #550, #56 LB
committed to Michigan—dropped to #570, #60 LB since then—SCOUTING

Deone Walker
3-star, #366, #53 DL
Was bumped up to #325, #44 DL
it looks like they’re going to ride the Cass Tech pipeline here without much trouble

Ja’Kobi Albert
3-star, #368, #27 ATH
Moved to #356, #26 ATH
We’ll find out on August 4th if Michigan can hold off the likes of Auburn, Maryland, Kentucky… they’re not feeling confident

Deuce Spurlock
3-star, #1143, #101 ATH
He’s actually moved down after Michigan surged in his recruitment to #1193, #102 ATH—SCOUTING
but they basically processed him out of the class with their preferred #500 level LB prospects, solid work

Dillon Tatum
4-star, #257, #13 ATH
50/50 MSU/UM battle who has dropped in the rankings to #266, #13 ATH

Dillon Bell
3-star, #568, #75 WR
Huge bump to #564, #74 WR—but he’s actually getting attention from other schools with a pulse (Georgia, A&M, Miss St.), so you gotta like the chances of Michigan fading

Walter Nolen
it’s been discussed

Keon Sabb
MISS
they shockingly didn’t close on the kid that initially left them out of his top 6

Sebastian Cheeks
4-star, #126, #13 LB
Dropped to #131, #15 LB—SCOUTING that UNC swooped in and benefited from with the commitment

Jahlil Florence
3-star, #386, #37 CB
Now #372, #37 CB, I’ll take the OP’s word that he’s leaning to staying out west, because his 247 profile doesn’t say much

Joshua Josephs
3-star, #527, #26 EDGE
Now #566, #29 EDGE—SCOUTING, who they are battling teams with a pulse for and are thus conceding

Jeremy Patton
3-star, #591, #63 LB
Big move to #586, #62 LB
They made a move here and took down Texas on the recruiting trail, which would be more impressive if Texas wasn’t doing horribly on the recruiting trail and if he wasn’t a #500 level 3-star prospect, but props to them on the “win”

I like how they want 2-3 OL but apparently have no idea what their board looks like at this point… I’m sure that will work out great for them.

Overall, this is definitely shaping up to be a #MobMove class that everyone will be jealous of.

scUM when Top-25 programs start sniffing around a prospect they're chasing...

50.1% chance they land some 3.25 star in the next week or so

So 50.1% x 3.25 stars ÷ by the number of national championships in the last 50 years = 3.2565

Or in other words, there is a 325.65% chance their fans will be giant bags of douche and their team will have 3 or more losses this season. I love math.
