Darius WAgner- First off you are spouting off saying that you base things on facts, oh yeah like what? The second, 3rd or 4th hand information out of maybe a couple of people's mouths that Smith looked better in practice? You also say that the STATS tell all, well why dont you pull up Smiths stats then too. He really has only had 1 drive worth to mention, and all he had to do on most of that drive was turn around and hand the ball off to Pittman. Granted he has no turnovers but what does he have 1 maybe 2 completions total? How many rushing yards does he have since this is supposedly what sets him apart? Granted he hasnt been on the field much, but this could be a much better arguement for you if he would have PERFORMED when he WAS on the field, instead of going 3 and out and punting almost EVERY time but once.
Troy Smith should never have spouted off even subtly in the media about his situation, a true leader would have gone to his coach and talked about it. The only thing this can do is possibly divide the team, nothing good can come out of it. Newsflash to Troy...If your aspirations are to get to the NFL, shut up and practice harder and make it impossible for Tressel to not play you. Prove you deserve to be the leader on the field, by making good on and off field choices. Spouting off publicly about playing time does not make him much of a leader. If I was Coach Tressel, I would be telling Boeckman to prepare to take most of the back up snaps in practice and be prepared to travel to NW for this weeks game. I would demote Smith publicly for his remarks to 3rd string for the game, and take Boeckman, and if Smiths attitude seems to be in check, and if he seems like he wants to work to be the back up or potential starter, then bring him back up to 2nd string. If he decides that he has already "earned" the position then he needs to start looking elsewhere for another school that will give him a shot at being a QB.
