tOSU's BCS Bowl possibilities

I would like to think the University of Arizona pass defense for probably costing us a bid to a BCS bowl. If they would have beaten Oregon State, USC would have gone to the Rose and left another spot open for an at large bid.

It's not over yet. USC still has to beat fUCLA and Ntre Ame (ok ok not exactly a challenge) and Oregon State still has to beat Oregon.....

That is quite true. If we get the Capital One Bowl, we certainly deserve it. However, there's nothing wrong with hoping oOSU loses so we get into a better one.

Agreed. Quite honestly, I think that our matchup in the Capital One bowl would be very intriguing. Possibly Georgia.....

Nobody seems to be giving Oregon a chance vs Oregon state but this Oregon team is better than people think... They definitely have had some lackluster performances this year, but I think they will win against Oregon State. tOSU vs Texas in the Fiesta would be great. Having an OSU vs TX, Penn State vs USC, FLA vs Okla, the big 10 would be in the next 2 biggest bowls and have a chance to really make a statement about the conference. I would also like to beat an SEC team in the capitol 1 but Id rather play Texas maybe thats because i currently live in Austin though, but i am really confident that OSU would beat Texas in the Fieasta.

I am pulling hard for the Beavers.

And on a football note... I winter in Florida. The Capital One Bowl is about 80 miles away and I WILL be there if the Bucks are there.

And if we are going to play an W\SEC team I would rather do it in Florida than the Sugar Bowl - regardless of proximity to Georgia.

The only thing that I have against in playing in the Capital One Bowl is that the payout for a non-BCS bowl it is around $4 mil and the payout for a BCS bowl is around $17 Mil. I know the money gets split up amongst our Big 10 brethren but we would clear a significant amount more money by playing in a BCS bowl and I think there is also quite a bit more prestige.

However, saying the above, if you want us to come to Orlando I guess we will.:)

i agree, you always want to play in the most prestigious bowl game you can, no matter who your opponent is. my only hesitation with all of this is that we absolutely need a win in the bowl game this year. let's face it: we've underachieved this year. Beanie got hurt, the o-line played extremely poorly for stretches of the year, the defensive line didn't get its' act together until the last third of the season, boeckman regressed; the end result of all of his being that we haven't done anything to rebuild our national image. a BCS bowl win OR a win against the SEC would help, which is why i'm wondering about who best matches up with us.

you may have a point about texas overachieving this year though. without any real semblance of a running game outside of mccoy running draws and options they've carved up opposing secondaries pretty consistently. they played a BRUTAL midyear stretch that saw them lose to tech away on a last second td and beat oklahoma in the red river shootout. playing them would be very difficult, but you may be right about our ability to stop them versus stopping stafford and moreno simply because if we could get to mccoy and make him play poorly, it's ballgame

Consider that it is quite possible that Texas hasn't seen a decent defense all year. I just can't believe that Texas, Oklahoma, TTech, Missouri, and Ok State have offenses that are so good that 50 points is a given. That leads me to believe that they don't play D in the Big 12. As simplistic as that sounds it is the only explanation I can come up with. And if that is the case, Texas is going to be in for a rude awakening if they get matched up against our D.

Georgia on the other hand isn't going to be surprised by anything we throw at them. Then again they don't run a spread and they aren't as good the LSU national championship team so they might not be as tough an opponent as history would lead us to believe.

Question...Does it really matter if we don't make the BCS? Sure i would love to play in the Rose Bowl but the BCS to me has lost its mojo. Is it that much of a honor to play in one? I mean look at it...Oregon State, Cincy, and Utah are all going to make it....Its not the best of the best anymore. We would get more out of playing Georgia than we would going to the Fiesta and playing Utah or some scrub. Look at Georgia last year...They had a fantastic year and they are honored to play..Hawaii?? This system is messed up
