tOSU vs Missouri, Goodyear Cotton Bowl, Friday Dec. 29, 8 ET on ESPN

We really don't know how much Hayden was suppose to play in this game. I do think it's understandable if he didn't play much when Kienholz came in. They really needed veteran players to be in the back field to help Kienholz get the play in, call protections, and make any adjustments. I did notice Xavier Johnson standing real close to Kienholz when the play was being called in a couple times, my guess is he had to help him with the signals and what the play actually was.
Yeah, I saw Henderson whisper in Lincoln’s ear before most of the snaps. Kid had no idea what he was doing out there (not entirely his fault tho). You need to put the veterans out there to keep him in line at that point.

Interesting that Day, when asked about Gebbia playing said that he thought LK gave them a better chance with his practice reps and running the zone read. I don’t recall seeing us run a zone read that threatened the QB keeping it.
If Gebbia couldn't competently run the offense wtf is he on the roster. All we needed a qb to do all season was make quick reads and get the ball out to all the 5 stars quickly. Just such a waste of talent last night. Totally baffling.

Day seems to be the coaching personification of the Mike Tyson quote:
Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth
He might be able to create a great game plan but if it goes off script or he has to adjust at least recently he falls flat on his face...

He better work on a disaster recovery plan moving forward. With the expanded playoffs the possibility that we’ll see more injuries at key positions is only going to increase. One just needs to look at the NFL and how few starters make it through a season without missing games.

Yep. Day goes straight to panic mode and to his awful “ole faithful” play calls once things start slightly going off track

The lack of rotation on defense REALLY needs to change. It doesn’t show up against the B1G pushovers but in games like scUM and this Missouri game everyone is just gassed come late 2nd half and they get ranked over for long methodical drives

Gebbia was there to be a Grad Assistant and he was rostered because doing so allowed him to be able to work with his teammates at times when he otherwise wouldn’t have been.

I think this is a hole in the recruitment strategy. Go out and try to find a Ohio kid who will be happy being a backup even if their ceiling isn't high. I think these older QB from other programs are just bandaids. They should want to at least get a guy or two that stay with the program for their college career and can run the offense as a backup. I feel like we are wasting developmental years that could be beneficial to the program by having highly recruited QB and low end vet transfer QBs with nothing in the middle.

Truly in the NIL era we don't have to give these guys a real scholarship from the school, they can be a preferred walk on that someone else pays for their school through a NIL deals. When they reach true backup QB status they can be given a scholarship. It can also preserve the redshirt for other players too. You don't need to burn a guys redshirt if your starter goes down or want to take them out in a blow out especially if they have 4 games played already. If you have a backup to be a backup, he can go in for those situations especially if you can have other guys step up to keep control of the game.
