Game Thread tOSU @ Virginia Tech, Sep 7 2015 @ 8pm ET, ESPN

Random After Game Thoughts:
Crowd had no impact on game
We dominated all but the 2nd Quarter
Despite the W way too many mistakes and turnovers
Schutt played well
Conley made some nice tackles
Deisels hit on Brewer changed the game.
Lots of rotation on the DL
We played OK on D but did not impress
Should have run Zeke more
Thomas got the best of Fuller
Miller time.
CJ 99 yards rushing. JT would have gotten 150
PLEASE stop going horizontal with CJ
CJ made some great decisions on some passes
OL played well enough but play calling could have been better.
Samuel had a good game.
Campbell did well on special teams. He also caught that ball.

Watching the new sports center and so far it sucks....

X2. New sports center does suck.

Not enough "booyahs" and exploding transformer graphics?

Perhaps this is for another thread, but these are wrong opinions.

People have complained for years that SC is gimmicky trash, and they finally try out a format that's more low-key and news-based and people are shitting on it right away?

So far it looks like a late-night talk show, but they talk about sports instead of things that suck. It's also has some of the DNA of George Michael's Sports Machine - for those who remember it. I'm inclined to watch this over Fallon or Kimmel as I go to bed, that's for sure.

Just got back from the alumni game watch and my thoughts:

1) Stating the obvious but the turnovers/mistakes are worrisome. We committed a ton at the end of last season and still prevailed, but we can't keep doing that. One was sort of forced on Cardale's INT (great play but still ill-advised pass) and the other was completely unforced on the punt return. Oh and the Dunn fumble was bad, it was coming out before he was even hit. Throw in quite a few penalties and the two drops, and we played pretty sloppy.

2) So stoked to see Miller shine tonight. He has totally earned it and was as electric as ever. He is just on another level as an athlete and that spin move...jaw dropped. He gets my game ball tonight, he made many huge plays at crucial times in the game.

3) Hand Zeke the damn football. We absolutely abandoned giving him the ball in the 2nd when we were sputtering and really he should never be under 15 carries a game, bear front or not. Tried to lean on the speed option way too much.

4) Surprised to see Cardale get the start but very happy for him. He is a very entertaining player to watch. His performance? Kind of a mixed bag but pretty good overall. Completion percentage was too low but he did make some nice plays with his feet and some really impressive passes. I still think JT is going to play this season along with Cardale though.

5) Defense had some substantial breakdowns in coverage in the secondary but you have to give VT some credit in making some plays. I thought Hubbard and Lewis showed some flashes. Schutt had a really nice game inside and so did Diesel. The pressure left a bit to be desired but Bosa is going to instantly change that. I think the group has a lot of upside and will grow into a strong unit. LBs looked really good to me overall.

6) Michael Thomas looked like a stud out there and did some work against one of the best corners out there. He is in for a big year.

7) Scary to think how well we played overall without Bosa, Marshall, Smith, Wilson, and Brown. We get the first four back and the scores could really turn ugly for our opponents in the next few weeks.

8) No way in hell should Zeke be returning punts. Throwing aside the fumble and the fact that he really doesn't fit that role, I do not want to see our best player get injured returning punts. Just not smart imo.

9) It is week 1 and we walked into a hostile environment at night and walked out with a 42-24 win. I am ecstatic with that result and we should really enjoy this win. Lots to improve on but it is unreal how much talent this team has. GO BUCKS!

This was fun. A little uneasy in the 2nd quarter, but 3 out of 4 ain't bad. Braxton still has it, Zeke (when he gets the straight jacket taken off.................) looks more determined than ever, Cardale looked a little uncomfortable at times and STILL made some great throws, JT Barrett (aka Mariano Rivera) came in and didn't skip a beat...

Sam fuckin Hubbard, welcome to the machine! One sack, and I believe it was him with the FF. DAMN impressive for someone who was playing Safety 9 months ago! Conley looked a little jittery early, but got settled in and looked good. Loved hearing Tyquan Lewis and Jalyn Holmes names mentioned.

And to the trolls, we're just warming up....

Jalyn had the FF. However, Sam did hit the QB just as he threw it deep which Powell Intercepted.
