Game Thread tOSU @ Virginia Tech, Sep 7 2015 @ 8pm ET, ESPN

I expect the offense to look completely different with the suspended players back. That really limited how we attack VT's scheme. Urban responds to cover-0 with speed option and deep shots, but without Corey and Jalin, the deep shots weren't so easy and VT seemed perfectly happy letting Cardale keep. Probably also why we ran so much wildcat and QB keeper. VT was already selling out to stop the run, and Elliott kills people with his blocks.

Also seemed like we were limiting Braxtons snaps, maybe he's not in game shape yet. He needs to be on the field as much as possible.

In the last three games (Alabama, Oregon, Va Tech), Ohio State has averaged 42 points per game, 549 yards per game, and 3 turnovers per game. If this team can find a way to cut down on the miscues, it will be truly unstoppable.
The "good news" is that the TOs this game were more giveaways than takeaways. I don't think they are precursors to anything.

I'm not an expert at breaking down plays, but I imagine a lot of those plays that "fail" are put on tape and are called to set up the ones that work. It's like a good boxer. Get the defense expecting the jab and throw the knock out punch.

I'm not an expert either, but in the last 4 games I've scored 3 touchdowns, did 4 spinning backfists and knocked motherfuckers out, and smoked ribs that would milk your balls dry. That's the level I'm on. Next, next Level!!!

Discussed this with my dad during the game, but 42 has been the magic number lately- IU, TTUN, Bama, Oregon, and now VaTech.

All of those while generally losing the turnover battle in a high margin (The Game being the exception). Multiple repeated occurrences seems to indicate a pattern that will continue- how many times will we continue wondering "if only they cut back on mistakes!" Maybe that's just who they are. But you can't help but think about it- the result probably looks like 59-0, the only complete game the Buckeyes have really played in the last year. It's frustrating/concerning/and scary good all at the same time.

When they don't turn it over you get Wisconsin

When they do it's only 42-17 kind of ass beating with at least one quarter of doubt

I stil don't believe this is real sometimes.

I think JT should be the starter. Cardale did what he needed for this game and I think that may have been the plan.

I think JT takes the job to start further into the season most likely to come during big ten play. Have a few games in between to figure it out as well as the OL play.

We get back our 3 receivers next week which will be scary for our opponents and as well as on defense with Bosa.

Pass defense should get another 'test' with Hawaii in a passing offense and give us a good look at adjustments.

Zeke needs to average 20 carries a game not that we will need him in the immediate future but when we get to close scores games I think we will be fine we put up nearly 600 yards on a good Vt defense with a great DL.

Braxton is going to be unreal and should compliment Michael Thomas and Jalin Marshall.

Overall I don't see any reason we shouldn't average at least 500 yards of offense and 40+ points a game.

Last but not least I will be thankful to see someone else not named Ezekiel Elliot return punts, don't want him in those situations and that really showed tonight. Having Jalin back there should help out and I think Curtis Samuel is going to make some big plays this year in the return/passing game.

Get ready for a great year of football fellas!

I would agree but there was a lot of that against Bama and Oregon too. Can't wait to see how good we can be when we finally figure this out.

Anyways, I didn't post until now for fear of jinxing the game (hey, it worked last season). Great effort all around. First game of the season, against a tough opponent in their house, you just want to get out of there win a win. Well we did - and by nearly 3 scores.

Figure out the secondary, establish the run and fix our ball security issues, and we should be set for a showdown against Bama or TCU in January.
