tOSU Transfer Portal Recruiting Discussion

Im all for bringing in Ward if Day is ready to lose McCord and/or Brown. So a room with Ward, Kienholz, Noland. And most likely another veteran like Chugs or Geb is to round out the room for depth

Brown couldn't come close to McCord and McCord was pretty underwhelming. I'd vote Brown if that's the scenario.

Just such a weapon… we really need a QB like this.

If we go after him we better expect to lose a few kids at QB.
That’s what I was alluding to. Ward signing will more than likely cause loses of McCord and Brown. So take that fwiw. Some will be happy, some will be indifferent. I’m in the later camp, as I feel OSU can win with McCord if they solidify the OL. But Ward looks dangerous athletic QB that OSU hasn’t had since Fields.

But excitement needs to be tempered because Ward is not in the Portal

I am in the former camp. McCord's reads were sloppy. I got sick of hearing about all the missed targets game after game. At this point, I am wondering if the QB room next year may scare off some of our WR's who are stat driven.

I don't really think the risk is huge.

1) I realize scUM has a weightlifter at QB (esoteric dig at Gus/Joel's commentary Saturday) waiting in the wings, but unless I am mistaken, seems like they are the ones who would be the most desperate to get a transfer like this if jj leaves. I would be surprised if Kienholz isn't ready to be a legit #1 next year. But to keep Cam away from that cesspool up north, lol...

2) I am barely old enough to remember Ray Griffin's INT in AA, but I guess I'm just too old for this wild west NIL/transfer game. I mean the little guys like the Cougs should be allowed to be competitive every once in a while when they do a good job developing someone or get lucky occasionally in recruiting. Helps to keep things interesting. This shit just seems ridiculous to me. I'm torn...

Meh, Cougs will always be somewhat competitive due to their gimmick offense. Throw the ball all game. CFB has never had parity, teams always dominate for years, and then rotate and then another few teams dominate for years. And they pretty much rotate. Schools like WSU, Indiana, Oregon St, Rutgers, etc will never be relevant. Sorry, but that’s the facts. And that’s the reality that many long standing CFB fans don’t want to admit. But yet they want to watch CFB is act is if they’re one of those tier of programs that they have a chance in the off season. But let’s be honest, UK, Wake Forest, Arizona, etc may make an occasional CFP in the 12 team format, but they’ll never sniff a championship.
