tOSU Transfer Portal Recruiting Discussion

Won't be any room at the inn
Zone 6 could very possibly be even better next year...
You're not gonna believe what you'll see with Inniss... he's a video game
Carnell will be obscene
and Smith is going to force his way onto the field.. at least as much as Tate did this year..
Plus lots more in that room to boot... Buckle up

I tend to agree with 3 WRs in '24 (Smith, Graham and McClellan). However, word is they either want a 4th WR in the '24 class, or a portal guy at WR. But we lose Marv, likely Egbuka and X at WR, which is a lot of experience exiting even with all the undeniable young talent. Now if Egbuka for some reason comes back, I say squash the idea of a 4th WR but odds are he moves on.

Evans could provide some proven experience and frankly the kid is a talent. Fleming can come back and I think he will. Ballard has gained some experience and hopefully takes the next step. Tate and Innis are going to be absolute monsters and Tate has gained a ton of experience. Then you have Noah Rodgers and the whole '24 class coming in, agreed Smith WILL see the field a lot for sure. But I could still see Evans contributing even with a talented WR room if the numbers are there.

I still don't understand the transfer and portal rules enough to know if this is something we should be paying attention to now or focus more on after signing day in a few weeks. Regardless, are there any positions we will most likely be looking at the portal for?

They have a window from Dec. 4th to Jan. 2nd to enter the portal - starting tomorrow you'll likely hear players declare their intentions to join, but the bulk of the fast and furious action will be on Dec. 4th.

I have very little doubt that McCord is back as OSU starting QB next year…..but a part of me wonders if they don’t kick the tires a bit on some transfer QBs.

Fields to OSU was pretty ground-breaking. If there’s a talent available like that, I think u have to do the best thing for the 2024 team even if that means pissing off McCord and Devin Brown.

I don’t see see us hitting the portal for a QB, but you never know. As much as folks want to put the blame on McCord for the loss, his perceived lack of development is on the staff.

I think the staff has to own it’s a “miss” by the standards they have set.

You can develop Kyle to the moon and back….his talent level isn’t in same stratosphere as the aforementioned players named. Development can’t fix that….

That said, my assumption is he is our starting QB next year…which to be honest, isn’t very exciting. That said, I wish him nothing but the best.

Well, if they missed on him then Brown could be a miss, as well. That’s just a guess based on the small sample size we have. This would leave us with Kleinholtz or our incoming Frosh.

While I think Kyle has shown some flashes of talent, I would like to see a QB who is willing to pull it and go from time to time. That doesn’t seem to be Kyle. I’ve been surprised at CJs willingness to pull it down and go at Houston which makes me why he wouldn’t do it here.
