2026 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Doesn't it always seem the OL classes we think are good, aren't and vice versa?
Definitely can be a crapshoot at the OL position and seems to be more than any other position. But using my selective memory, the Brew Crew turned out awesome and I swore on the '23 OL class with Montgomery, Siereveld and Padilla despite OOS missed. That said, it spans out over many classes and now the portal though over the most populated position in the game, so there is no perfect formula.

But we can't strike out on Ohio this cycle, I'll go so far as to say that no matter what we get OOS. I don't think that will happen, just saying it can't.

I think things have changed with Bowen being hired and NIL. I can see OSU landing a max of 3 OH OL. Bowen will probably get some guys that he already has relationships with to get another 2-3. That’s just my guess in February

Some OL that have yet to get offered, but Bowen has started to follow on social media:

Kelvin Obot

Jake Fuchs (Tennessee Titans OL coach's son)

Rhys Woodrow

Chancellor Campbell

Pulelei'ite Primus

Maxwell Hiller

Kelsey Adams

Claude Mpouma

Yes @Bestbuck36 Bowen is casting a very wide net. Something we haven't seen with Frye. And also a reason why losing out on some of the OH recruits matters little if OSU can land an equally talented recruit from say ID, TX, TN, etc. Bowen seems like he's going to look for talent no matter where they're located

Memories fade, scars remain. Seem to recollect that the Brew Crew was made up of four 5*s, and one 4*. Possibly all 5*s? Anyway, a very serviceable group, and some/all got drafted? Do like the ambition Bowen has shown so far, and from some of the posts above, seems like he has a pretty good spiel about him. tOSU has bought some time, portaling in the tackles for 2025, so we'll see if he can reload the room, and how well he can develop the talent already in the room. But do like the start. PS, believe that last year, Chip helped Frye with the OL, probably moreso than the other positions (maybe except QB). Go Bucks!

Per Landry Brede:
"We've already talked on the phone twice," Brede said of Bowen. "It's a different vibe. Me and Coach Frye never built a relationship. We would talk briefly during visits but nothing serious. Coach Bowen has already talked with me on the phone, learned about me and worked on building a connection.

"He says he likes my film a lot and that I play mean but he wants to see me in person and maybe work with me. He's been great to talk with and I can tell he loves the game."

Why Ohio State wants to finish strong in recruiting than start strong

The Ohio State football team would rather finish the recruiting cycle strong than start strong as they did last year.

The Ohio State football team is hoping to get another top-five recruiting class for 2026. They haven't started very strongly, only having four commits to this point. Still, it's very early in the recruiting cycle. Last year, the Buckeyes started very strong when it came to recruiting.

In April of last year, the Buckeyes had multiple five-star recruits committed to the program. It looked like they were ready to pull in an all-time recruiting class. It was one of the best starts to recruiting that Ohio State has ever had. Unfortunately, they didn't finish well.

They ended up losing some of those recruits, including five-star corner Na'eem Offord. While they kept Devin Sanchez and Tavien St. Clair, the strong start wasn't as important as a strong finish. That's why Ryan Day and his staff would rather have a strong finish to recruiting than a strong start.

The Ohio State football team wants a strong finish in recruiting this year

Ohio State has a long time to figure out its recruiting approach. It's still just late February. Some recruits for the 2025 class haven't even signed yet. They have two new coordinators who will be bringing new systems to their respective units. Each of them is going to want a certain kind of player.

While it would be nice if Ohio State could get a bunch of four and five-star recruits early in the cycle, that does them no good if they don't stick around on Signing Day. That's why it wouldn't be surprising to see them have a little different approach this season.

NIL is becoming a larger part of recruiting. Once the Spring transfer portal closes, the Buckeyes will put all of their NIL efforts into the 2025 recruiting class. Perhaps they wait until May or June this time to fully dole out some cash to recruits in the form of promises.
