2026 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Heck, I'd take an OT like in "The Blind Side" where he drives the DL outa the park. Gimme five of those. PS, would opine that the NIL guys give Day & Co a number (bucks in the bank), and say, here it is. In other words, they give tOSU the size of the pie, and Day & Co divide the pieces however they wish. Once again, remember that these gifts are one-time money, and believe that these kids get four year deals (subject to still being on team, etc), so NIL guys have to come up with that each year....

Works both ways.

It gives the team the option to not “renew” the contract of a guy who isn’t performing (or gets injured-let’s be real here).

Put that money on the next guy.

A la Colorado/Deon. This 'one-year' try-out thing is pretty much what I hear you saying, from a NIL standpoint. Colorado has many transfers out, and equal number of transfers in, I believe. That seems to be the way Deon is playing the game. Part of me likes that, in that if a guy's hype doesn't equate to production on the field, adios. A recruit on the other hand, could be in the same situation. Forget, doesn't a recruit have a year-over-year agreement? Or is it for five years? Could it be that if a recruit (who might have big NIL bucks?), doesn't show out, then the coaches could have the 'talk' and move on? Seems to be a new world out there....Go Bucks!

Jax, just connected the dots. While the schollie is for five years, most universities honor that. BUT, with the advent of NIL, the 'bagmen' can cut off the funding at their whim, and not affect the school's reputation. Sometimes it just takes me a tad longer....

Yeah, but with Prime it's a "blessing", not a bag. :roll1:
