In the final 2026 Rivals ranking, Notre Dame ended with five five-star recruits in their top 32 players. That is the most among any team, meaning that the Irish signed more five-star players than any other program, outdoing the likes of Ohio State (4), Michigan (3), LSU (3), USC (2), Texas (2), Alabama (2), and Oregon (2).

2026 Freshman Class​

• Day doesn’t know if Ohio State will sign as many players in future recruiting classes after signing 28 freshmen this year.
• Day believes the players Ohio State signed are players who want to be at Ohio State, who want to graduate from Ohio State and who want to win the rivalry game and win championships at Ohio State. “I think if you talk to people in the program and in the building right now, they're very impressed with the makeup of these guys.”

Will watch to see whether the 'wanna be a Buckeye' idea lasts past Coach Mick's winter training. And when one starts jacking weights next to someone who's competing for your position. Plus who's ahead of you on the two-deep. All sorts of 'what-ifs' abound. Yeah, do hope that this class stays relatively intact. For whatever reason, don't believe tOSU will be going after many 'projects' as normally do, probably more wanting to harvest from the portal. Noticed there was a fair amount of Ohio players that both left, and were in the mix to come back to Ohio...Also believe that a couple of classes were gutted by the portal, which leaves a vaccuum to be filled, hopefully by this year's recruits. Lastly, if one recruits based on NIL, then that recruit will be swayed by some other team illegally contacting a player for more cash/playing time etc.
