2025 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

With DL recruiting possibly approaching one of the best classes OSU has had in YEARS! And landing players from the deep south, a region OSU has never had a foothold in places like AL and LA before. Some of that can be attributed to Darth Saban, but LJsr has hardly ever pulled players from there before. Not enough credit is being given to this guy: LaAllan Clark. A coach/assistant from LA, with ties in the south is big reason you're seeing OSU now in a serious mix for these southern DL who rarely ever went north.
And with the new coaching role, Clark could be the heir apparent to LJsr as the DL coach, and could allow LJsr to go on the trail less, and focus more on the coaching, development and on campus recruiting aspect. While Clark hits the road

And also, special shout out to Coach Gerren Duhart who has been a big help with the DBs. OG Walt and Guerrieri deserve a ton of praise. But if look at many of the tweets from the DB recruits(and their families), DuHart's name continually is mentioned.

What incredible hires!!

Leads to something I was wondering about in generral.

We are at 21 and still looking at Sanders, Moore, Pettijohn, Hill, Brew and a few others. Seems like we are early in the cycle to be in this kind of numbers crunch. Did the 25 limit get changed?
I think it got abolished a year or two ago when they abolished the limits on transfers. Cause the idea is if half your team transfered they don't want to take years to restock

You are correct. In May of 2022 they suspended the 25 player limit for two years to deal with the number of transfers.

Not sure what is expected to change in two years.

College football recruiting: Updated Big Ten team rankings for 2025 recruiting class

247Sports gives you a peek at which teams in the Big Ten have the early edge in recruiting for the 2025 class.

1. OHIO STATE BUCKEYES — 247SPORTS COMPOSITE POINTS: 299.59

Commits: 20
Not only does Ohio State sit atop the Big Ten team recruiting rankings for the 2025 class, it also holds the No. 1 spot nationally. All the focus in Columbus is on one thing: Regaining dominance of the Big Ten. The Buckeyes hold commitments from nine recruits that rank among the top-100 nationally. Bellefontaine (Ohio) five-star quarterback Tavien St. Clair is the prize possession, but Ohio State also holds commitments from the top two cornerbacks in the entire class: Houston (Texas) North Shore five-star Devin Sanchez and Birmingham (Ala.) Parker five-star Na'eem Offord.

With regards to Dorian Brew, I haven't been this shocked in recruiting in a minute. I thought it was only a matter of time that he would pull the trigger for the S&G, and I'm pretty sure I wasn't the only one thinking that

Does Dawayne Galloway finally get his coveted offer? I'm assuming Blake Woodby's ship sailed a long time ago

Maxwell Roy commits this evening at 6p
Justin Hill on Wednesday I think
Could also be a boom on the 6th from Pettijohn (just saw the update on his thread). Hill should definitely be a boom.
Pettijohn I could see trend to USC, but cautiously optimistic on him right now...add him and this is likely the dirtiest front DL/LB class I've seen as a whole.

Just sayin': Yeah dragurd is correct, the 25 player limit got abolished on 23 Oct 2023:

Football proposals

The council voted to eliminate the annual limit on initial counters in both FBS and FCS (previously 25 and 30 per year, respectively, per program). Limits on initial counters had been suspended by the council in 2021 as a result of uncertainty during the COVID-19 pandemic and the implementation of the one-time transfer exception.

Ohio State football team recruiting at an elite level except at this one position

The Ohio State football team has the best recruiting class in the country but has fallen short in recruiting this one key position.

The Ohio State football program has the top recruiting class in the country. They have been landing impact player after impact player. In fact, they just landed another five-star recruit on Saturday. Now, they have four five-star recruits for the 2025 recruiting class.

As well as the Buckeyes have been recruiting this year, there is one key area on the roster that they need to recruit better. That is the offensive line. If you look at the class right now, they have just two offensive line recruits. One of those recruits is the lowest-rated recruit that Ohio State has.

Justin Frye was under fire after last season for the offensive line play. They weren't able to hold up in the most important game of the season, The Game. Quite frankly, that unit was one of the big reasons why they ended up losing that game and not making the College Football Playoff.

The Ohio State football team needs to recruit the offensive line better

While the Buckeyes brought in four offensive line recruits last season, three of those were three-star recruits. Frye has never brought in a five-star recruit since he's been at Ohio State. He is trying very hard to bring in David Sanders Jr., but he could still strike out on him.

If Frye only manages to bring in two offensive linemen in this class, Ryan Day might need to look to replace him. If the line doesn't get any better on the field this season, then he will have no choice but to find someone else to coach the offensive line. I thought they should have done that this offseason.

I get all the logic in this article. But if we get Sanders, the rhetoric takes a sharp left to Albuquerque on the recruiting front even though we're thin on numbers in this class currently. We do need real results with who we have coming back at OL this year on top of a good OL recruiting class though. But on recruiting, if we can get Sanders and one more quality OL then he's done his job there at least. Lowe was no gimme and a top talent, plus offering Cook was the right move.
