TAKING STOCK OF OHIO STATE‘S 2024 RECRUITING CLASS AND WHO THE BUCKEYES COULD STILL ADD​


With more than four months still to go until the early signing period, the Buckeyes are one commitment away in the 2024 class from matching their Signing Day total from a year ago (21).

Currently, Ohio State sits at No. 2 overall in 247Sports’ national recruiting class rankings, only trailing Georgia. Four of the Buckeyes’ commits are five-star prospects in 247Sports’ composite rankings and seven total are ranked within the top 100 players nationally.
The Buckeyes are well-stocked at most positions in the 2024 class, but there’s still some work to be done on both sides of the ball.

With just over four months to go until the early signing period, we put together a position-by-position breakdown of who Ohio State has already landed in the current cycle and where the Buckeyes are still looking to make further additions. Prospects listed in the remaining targets category have all been offered by Ohio State and either took an official visit this summer or are considering making one in the fall.

With 20 commitments in the 2024 class, Ohio State has filled most of its needs on the recruiting trail but still has spots to fill at several positions.

Now that Houston has made it official do we think Pickett becomes a priority to round things out? Lightfoot? Is the belief we are after 2 or still 3 for the DE if it’s the right kids?

Also, I heard various ‘insiders’ make claims that big fish such as KVA, Lightfoot, or others are legitimate candidates for a flip later on. Lightfoot due to NIL vs desire to be a buck and KVA due to ND having possible coaching upheavals if the season sours on them again. Past insider speculation is there anything building these talking points?

I think Pickett becomes the next priority, but we keep in contact on Lightfoot in case he wants to switch. We do need at least one more, but probably two. So I would imagine (hope) we are kicking the tires on some DE's...heck, you got two 5*'s to play with? Seems like a dream scenario and exactly why Houston was so important.

With Pickett having 30 sacks in one year is amazing. Hoping also that we make him a priority. Maybe a Jack player?
