OSU was never in this one. But the rumored NIL deal is pretty staggering for a kid that's never stepped foot on campus...
Just the way the founding fathers intended.I saw $3 million and that Miami and Texas were in a literal auction style bidding war on the day of his commitment.
I may be wrong but I think they are calling him a Plus + Edge meaning strong side instead of weak side. Again, I may be wrong but that’s my best guesWhat is "five star plus"?
Seems to be like an A+ vs just an A level player. The very top 5 Stars seem to be getting that moniker. Jeremiah has the 5 Star+ for example. What is "five star plus"?
It's their composite ranking to add the "Plus +"Edit: But every cycle there are a handful of players who are rated as five-star recruits by all four major recruiting services. Those players are named Five-Star Plus+ prospects by On3.
If you’re talking about the Long Snapper he committed as a preferred walk on. I would imagine he will be out on scholarship in a year or two. It’s quite normal for specialists like that to even start right away knowing that they will be rewarded down the road. I played Wr/Db and I also long snapped when I played HS football. Very stressful position as RB stated above, never notice the LS until a mistake is made. Was this a traditional scholarship counting against numbers or a NIL pays the way until a spot is open down the road?
I don’t see that working out. People that are not on full-scholarship cannot take advantage of many of the benefits that scholarship athletes have. Athletes have their own dining facilities that are far superior to the normal students, far better housing that is free, access to preferred scheduling of classes, monthly stipends even when receiving NIL, etc. All of these things walk-ons cannot take advantage of. It’s far better to be on scholarship not even talking about the fact education is free as well. Would never happen.EasternBuck, I'll take a shot. IMHO, if they play the sport, they count. Unless a walk-on. A recruit that has a basketball schollie, can play football, but recollect that they count against the 85 limit. Ricky Dudley comes to mind. With NIL though, not certain how it plays out. Can you stockpile ten players, not utilizing university funds, to pay for room and board, etc and have them suit up for football. Dunno. As I write this out, I reread, and confuse myself. You may have noodled out yet another crack in the NIL impact on college football. Consider taking this to one of the big schools, and selling the idea....
That would be my guess, most specialist get preferred walk on status and if they win the job, they get a scholly. Almost positive that would be the case here as well. Big pickup though to secure that position for years to come.If you’re talking about the Long Snapper he committed as a preferred walk on.
