2023 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

This class as a whole is DEFINITELY click bait! Like I said,if we get even 50% of these commits, this is the best class in the B1G and a top 5 national class.
One thing about Birm, he’s not going to do “click bait” stuff. I’m not saying all of these will sign with Ohio State, but his prediction is not as far fetched as people think.

Keeley absolutely loves Larry Johnson.

Downs’ dad is good buddies with Walton

AJ Harris is trending hard back to the Buckeyes

Kayin Lee de-committed from UGA and instantly started working on visiting Ohio State

Troy Bowles was a heavy Buckeye lean with Al Washington. Maybe Knowles is building a relationship

Kayden McDonald is the only one I don’t know much about

Agreed.

Birm won't be 100% right but he's not a clickbait guy. He sells based on his credibility and proven access to the OSU staff.

DT from Suwanee, Ga.(North Gwinnett H.S.) goes 6'3 or 6'4 316 to 320#s depending on which service you use. Rivals rates him 166 out of their top 250 players. 247 says he has good ability to penetrate with good quick twitch explosiveness, flashes heavy hands at the point of attack, and projects as a 1-tech in a 4-3 defense and multi-year starter who could possibly outperform his current projection.
Hope this helps.

My bad , Birm is one of the best in the business, and “click bait” wasn’t the best term to use for him. But I’m just very cautiously optimistic on a class like what he’s predicting. I just don’t see us pulling even 75% of the kids he’s predicting in March. But I really hope I’m wrong

Pretty sure Birm doesn't really expect all these 5 stars to sign with Ohio St. but appreciate the sentiment. Here is his defensive "predictions"

DE Keon Keeley, A.J. Hoffler
DT Will Smith, Kayden McDonald
LB Troy Bowles, TackettCurtis, Arvell Reese
CB A.J. Harris, Kayin Lee, Jermaine Mathews
S Caleb Downs, Malik Hartford, Cedrick Hawkins

if nothing else it's good conversation for us and click bait for Birm.

A.J. Harris crystall balled today to Florida by Wiltfong . Apparently they had a big recruiting to-do at Florida and several blue chippers there were really impressed. Wiltfong also says Georgia moved up on Harris as well. Looks like we've got some work to do there.

There were a number of receivers that had outstanding performances today but none of them were more dominant than Rogers. Ranked as one of the top receivers in the class, Rogers came out and proved why he should be ranked so highly. He's an imposing figure at receiver with measurables that make him stand out in the crowd. Rogers showed off very reliable hands and has a knack to make tough catches in traffic and diving catches along the sideline when necessary. He runs pretty crisp routes for how big he is and is able to stop and start with enough suddenness to shake defenders off his trail. Rogers is especially skilled at running deep routes and coming up with catches while the defensive back is draped all over him. Unfortunately, Rogers wasn't able to finish the day after a minor injury and none of the other receivers were able to do enough to surpass him for the MVP award. NC State, North Carolina, Ohio State, South Carolina, Penn State, Tennessee, and Clemson are the main programs in the mix for Rogers.

This kid so talented! I like him as much as Tate and Inniss.

Four-star receiver
Noah Rogers made a lot of catches on Sunday but the play that stands out most is when the Rolesville, N.C., standout went deep, caught a pass in the back of the end zone and then his momentum carried him into a sand pit used for track and field with Rogers ending up tangled in a net. He held onto the ball the entire time.

Rogers has speed, size and playmaking ability, and that’s a really nice combination as the four-star proved to be one of the top receivers in the 2023 class. How much room there is for him to move up in the position rankings is tough to predict because there is really good depth at the position. But he’s a playmaker for sure and NC State could be the team to beat in his recruitment.

The Buckeyes have since ramped things up with guys like Top247 passer Christopher Vizzina (No. 7), who visited on March 12 and was offered. Five-star Dante Moore (No. 3) and Top247 passers Eli Holstein (No. 8) and Dylan Lonergan (No. 9) are a couple others on Ohio State’s board as well. Lonergan will be back at OSU on April 8. Holstein reopened his process this past Friday, backing off a long-standing verbal to Texas A&M.

Montgomery putting in work to flip Keon Keeley on his visit to Ohio State today—5-star edge player currently committed to Notre Dame.

Even more important than the peer recruiting on this guy will be the relationship he builds with LJ. People (not us Buckeye recruitniks) sometimes dismiss his prowess as a recruiter because of his age but you have to look no further than last year's haul of JT and Sawyer to confirm it.
