2023 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

I am tired of many of our fans acting like everything is lost.

I get that the class was "supposed" to be better, but right now we sit at #2 behind Bama when it comes to average player ranking. The way some are acting is like we slipped below Penn State and Michigan in recruiting though.

CB is obviously a concern but hopefully they fix that with the portal.

I hope Bonsu signs.

Even though we whiffed on some big recruits over money, because in this case, it does seem to really come down to that. Not always, but there is enough smoke there.

Other than that, I feel OSU has addressed many of it's needs.

We lost Lee, but the two DB's we did get look like lights out ballers.

The DL are solid. Of course if we would have gotten one of the 5 stars, it would be even better, but again solid.

The OL look pretty good. One or two more would have been better.

The safety's are awesome. Especially if we keep Bonsu.

I think if you take a rounded look at the class, it is easy to conclude it is pretty good because it addresses our needs.

Could it have been better with some more money, sure. However, we are not there right now, so we have to move on.

There are complete and utter morons thinking Ohio State is basically Indiana because of this recruiting class.

This fanbase needs an enema. Badly.

The two CB's are pretty damn good. We just don't have depth, so they really need to go to the portal, which Day has shown a hesitancy against doing. The problem is there is mostly crap in the portal, that aren't playing at their school for a reason.

They should be looking at schools where there have been coaching changes. Those are places for easy poaching.

I think recruiting depth is going to be much harder now.

See what happened with Lee, YES Auburn probably was able to get him up front money, but he is also pretty much right in line for a starting job as a freshman. The lower 4* more "project" type players you're going to see this a lot with, IMO. If you can get a little money and pretty much assuredly get to play right away at somewhere like Auburn, why go and sit 2 years at Ohio State?

It’s plenty good enough develop them. I want recruits with a high ceiling and a good work ethic. Good coaching. Will coaching the players become more important in the $$$ era than salesmen.

That's TTUN's fan's argument about their getting 3* star players and transfer guys. I am not necessarily buying it. 2024 should tell alot. They still have most of their covid team coming back next year, and they should be decent again next season, however, 2024. Not so sure. Those 3 stars they are supposedly developing, it never worked for them in the first 5 years of Hairball's tenure. They just happen to have it all together this time.

I know everyone hates me but unless we jump in are competitive with the SEC, Oregon, Miami, USC we need to revamp the way we recruit.

It was a complete waste of time and resources spent on Keeley, Wilson, Matayo.

Recruting elite kids from the south with options at programs => the ours is a waste.

With exception of WR and QB.
That’s what our program is known for.
Good prep school for WR and QB for the NFL.

We need to prioritize Ohio and the Midwest where NIL isn’t pay for play. Pray they NIL schools fill their needs with prospects from their area and truly become a development program not just at WR/QB.

Sadly Michigan is a good model right now.
With their development and transfer portal use.

We need to become what our lame mantra’s says we are.
Fight, Toughness, Brotherhood.

We also need to perform a colonic on every aspect of the program.
Mick, Pantoni, Medical staff. Everything.

If we can add some pieces in the portal this year we will be fine.

But we need a huge recruiting year next year.
We will have massive needs.
Huge depth chart opportunities.

Is that enough for example Jordan Marshall who will have NIL opportunities.

It’s game, set, match when we start losing Ohio kids to NIL.

We were missing on elite players from south to the SEC way before NIL. That is absolutely nothing new at all
