2023 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Lots of good chatter about this guy. FYI his commitment date is Tues. April 12 at 6:30 on CBS HQ. His final four are U of Miami,
Penn St., scUM, and The Ohio State.
Miami REALLY wants this kid and Baxter(they have conceded Young). It’ll be a kick in the nuts to lose all 3 :sneaky:
Cristobal was supposed to lock down all the SoFl talent …

Yeah, his competition is top notch, which also factors into his stats. And I agree, that if he were to drop down to division 2 which was Henry’s school,he would be a beast. And it is sad that fans expect a JK Dobbins or Treveyon Henderson in every class. Fletcher, imo, is being focused on after Day seeing so many issues moving the chains on short downs. Teague couldn’t stay healthy to be the bettering ram(yes, the OL didn’t help either), and Williams wasn’t big enough to break the multitude of DL tackles. And we also didn’t have the RB to wear teams down late in games. That’s where Fletcher would come in, in both instances. But he’s a rotational RB at OSU, and I’m curious to see who they sign with him in this class.

Btw, I believe who they sign in this class will have a heck of a fight with ‘22signee, Hayden. He’s being forgotten about as he’s only a frosh and may not see the field this season. But he’s every bit as talented as some of the best backs in ‘23.

The bolded is exactly what I believe as well.

I know a lot of people love Richard Young and I agree that he’s deserving of the praise and his ranking, but I’m hoping Baxter is the other guy. His running style is my favorite of the backs in this cycle.

From Wiltfong...

Tackett Curtis has 3 schools currently"in the best spots". Wisky,USC, and Ohio St.
California WR Rico Flores lists a top 5 of Ohio St.,Notre Dame, Texas,UCLA, and Ga.

Flores will be a Buckeye.

After this trip, where do the Buckeyes stand for the star wideout?

“Ohio State is very, very high on my list,” Flores said, noting the rest of his top five includes Notre Dame, Georgia, UCLA, and Texas.

Flores will likely take official visits to each of those schools over the summer before making a decision before his senior season begins. He’s going to be focusing on certain factors when sitting down to make his decision.

“I’m looking for somewhere that feels like home,” he explained. “I want somewhere that feels comfortable and welcoming, and somewhere that I’m going to be put in a situation to take care of my family.”

A rundown on several recruits:

Great update, thanks for posting this. Tate and Innis would be like Olave and Wilson all over again. Or JSN and Fleming. Or Harrison Jr and Egbuka. You get the idea, Hartline is going to continue dominating that position.

I was a little surprised on the optimism on some other positions that I hope come to fruition (in a good way). The two DL recruits would be huge to get on board. Tackett remains my top recruit bc I think he will be a difference maker on defense in every phase, basically a more violent and explosive Pete Warner in my eyes. OL we need two more top notch guys, but I'm ecstatic with Padilla and Montgomery being the base of that unit, they are both going to be stalwarts for us on the OL.

Biggest thing to me is we have to kill it in the secondary and get guys to buy in there. We've had attrition there and we have one year from McCallister, and two from Burke. There has to be some big pickups at DB in this class or we have issues. Not saying I doubt that will happen, Hartford is a great start. Just stating what is probably the obvious that DB is priority #1 in this class (would be OL if not for Padilla and Montgomery already being in).

Is DB really more of a priority than OL? Coombs had a massive '21 DB class, and hardly any have seen the field. Sure Cavazos and Shaw left, but Turrentine, Johnson and Dunn are still on the roster at S, and they're being forgotten about. I think Stud had much more whiffs on the OL(especially at OT). If anything, the pressure is on Frye to not only hold onto the 3 OL in OH, but sign at least 2 of the nationally ranked OL as well. I think our S class will be solid, its the CBs I worry more about. Kayin Lee and Sharif Denson would be the dream scenario at CB, and then Hawkins, Hartford, Fagan and Downs would be the dream at S. Even if we landed 3 of those S we'd be in a great position.

You could certainly call it debatable, I only see DB as more pressing because we have Padilla and Montgomery in the bag, and they are two of the best OL in the country imo. Siereveld is probably a Buckeye if we do want him in this class, and I think we do. And then yes, we do need 2 OL from outside of Ohio that are to 100 types. I love the 2 we have right now, but there is more work to do but I think we are close.

Hartford is a great player but with his frame, I could see him ending up in the front 7 if he continues to develop and gain weight. Right now I see him as a safety, but he could throw on 20-30 lbs and be a LB before we know it. Regardless, he was a kid we just wanted in the class and we will figure out where he lands. Hawkins is ok, but not sure I see him winding up on the dotted line and I will leave it there. Seems like we are in play for several good DBs and Styles is a monster in '22 at safety (could also be a LB after some Coach Mic time). Turner, Stokes and Brown all have potential and I think could be very good, but also seem like they could project at safety. I think Brown and Stokes seem much more in the mold of a safety. We need a couple sure-fire CB prospects in this class imo and hopefully that plays out.

I think I’m going to side with PNuts here RB but I get your point on needing elite CBs.

Coming into this class it was definitely OL that was the biggest need, specifically OTs which we still don’t have.

We MUST land 2 outside guys that are not project types. I’d personally like to 3 OTs as well as Siereveld for a 6 man class.

OL was definitely priority come into this class, won't bother debating that. I think Montgomery will actually slot in at RT nicely, he can play inside but he is plenty athletic enough to play tackle. Padilla is a road-grader guard. So we do need at least one more prototypical OT. Siereveld is a true LT prospect imo, just need to get his technique to catch up to his size and athleticism. In an ideal world, we land some combo of Proctor/Bisontis/Alinen/Kirkland.

But that said, the 2 we have in Montgomery and Padilla, plus the likelihood of Siereveld, makes me less concerned than CB at the present moment. There is some positivity towards guys like Downs, Harris, Lee, Denson, etc., but I can't say I am anywhere close to confident any of those names wind up in Columbus.

Hold the Matayo! Birm says Cal. DE Matayo Uiagalelei's top two is USC and OSU.He's visiting this weekend along with his buddy DE Jason Moore,a 5* from Md. that OSU is in the mix for too. Also says OSU is right there for Cal TE Walker Lyons and loves his team mate WR Rico Flores. On the negative side, Birm says Austin Siereveld loves both OSU and ND and visits OSU first...if he goes on to ND it's not good.
