They have worked together before and Vrable is Ficks best friend who also hired Coombs for the Titans. There's a lot of familiarity between the two and Coombs is a Cincinnati High School legend. Seems a really good fit actually

I think you can say he "runs" the defense much like at OSU, Day "runs" the offense. I'm sure they focus on the side of the ball they're more familiar with, and delegate the day to day work to position coaches. And finalize the schemes.

It also helps that Coombs also was a CB coach under Kelly while at UC, and like @Bestbuck36 said, he's a coaching legend in Cincy. He'll be able to get a number of kids that may have ended up at UK, Miami(OH), and mid to lower tier B1G teams. Eliano is going to beat him for the higher rated names, imo.

This next year will be great/critical for Eliano to establish his bonafides on the big stage. Hopefully, one or more of tOSU's current crop of DBs become special and earn a trophy in the 2022 season, become a first rounder, then can see Eliano should be able to trump Coombs persona on the recruiting trail. Heck, turning the back 4/5 into a credible unit will certainly help our DB recruiting. Absolutely, and agree with Bestbuck that this is a win-win situation for Coombs. Go Bucks!

I think developing two All American’s, 1st round picks, and one Thorpe award winner at Cincinnati is probably as great as anything he can do at Ohio State. OSU probably has as many first round DB’s in the league now as Cinci has ever had.

Knowles in Louisiana to visit LBs Tackett Curtis and Jaiden Ausberry acc. to Birm. Curtis is one of the most savage hitters I've ever seen on tape but that makes me wonder how much he'll be off the field because of targeting and/or concussions. Ausberry is a 5 star that Bucks have recruited for a while now. Nice to see Knowles on the road.

I was thinking that. I was trying to remember the last Safety/LBer we had that hit like that.. Maybe Shazier? Though he comes more with forearms then making himself a missle like Shazier did

Knowles offered Tackett Curtis today according to his 247 profile. I mean the kid freaking smokes people. WANT
