tOSU Recruiting Discussion

I have a feeling we are going to see even better offenses at OSU under Ryan Day. Ryan seems like he doesn't care what we do so long as we score points. If we have to run it for 300 or throw for 500 that's what we will do.

So I really hope we stress sound defense and winning in the trenches because we know our offense is getting 30+ every game.

Would love to see us really attack OL and DL recruiting.

With the skill position players that were acquiring it seems to me like Day wants an offense where the QB gets the ball out quick to WRs and when the time is right can blow the top off an offense. And also RBs that will lunch you in the mouth all day and wear down the clock and allow for a big play action pass when available.
I agree, recruiting on the line is going to be paramount to keep this offense elite.

If that includes a solid defense (doesn’t have to be a Bama defense) just enough then I’m going to be a spoiled fan the next few years. Seems to be able to find a players ability and utilize it, which should transition to doing more with less. I think you said it best though, should see some very good offensive teams under Day. I’m just waiting to see a consistent defense or at least a defense that forces a good bit of turnovers.

Every once of Days energy should be to get the defense right. If our defense is top 20 we will be hard pressed to lose.

Top 70 defense.... yeah not so much.

Should I conclude that neither Taver Johnson nor Alex Grinch seem to be able to recruit?

Was it Coombs that was keeping recruiting alive for the entire secondary?

Well, Schiano was a big piece of several key commits in the secondary, but no doubt Coombs was the ace there and losing him was a big hit there. When Taver was here, he was a solid recruiter but from what I recall, was moreso turning diamonds from the rough. No idea on Grinch, as he has a limited track record. Regardless, 2020 is going to be a big barometer in that department and we need to step it up there. Not a whole lot can be done on 2019 at this point.
