tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Inside of the DB label it's even more interesting
  • 8 CB's including Arnette and Sheffield until they make a decision.
  • Okudah and Wade could leave after '19 season
  • There are 0 incoming 2019 recruits
  • So we are staring at a 4-5 man CB room heading into 2020.
  • 9 safeties on the grid with Fuller being the lone '19 SR
  • 3 of those 9 have now been effectively recruited over with the emergence of White. One of them is a RS JR.
  • If Proctor comes on as expected we may be down to a 5 man Safety room headed into '20 as well.
Given that much PT for freshmen, I'm expecting the '20 DB recruiting class to be insane.
With the current uncertainties of the defensive staff, I imagine it would be pretty darn hard to pull in a last minute DB in this 2019 recruiting class. Even if we get several studs in 2020, that will be an awfully young and raw back 4 group. Day really needs to lock down his staff ASAP.

IMO you hope Sheffield comes back and then scrap any 2019 DB recruiting. Don't waste offers.

So what you’re saying is....if Ryan Day stinks it up, we get to say “Urban left the cupboards bare?”

That’s awesome.

Not a lot out there that aren't going to be 3-4 year projects, NJ-Buckeye.

Devonshire is the only one I am hearing that OSU has a legitimate shot at for '19 and even he is a longshot (leaning heavily towards WVU last I saw). Pitt and OSU visits in the next 2 weeks.

I think they could sign an outstanding '20 DB class if they hire the right coach. They are going to need to to not experience a huge drop-off in talent going into the 2020 season.

Definitely setting up for a huge 2020 DB class, but I would note that it is pretty likely to see Hickman at CB even though he's listed at ATH. Still, that is only 1 CB and we need to load up in a big way for 2020.

I am hoping Fields jumps us past Pedstate in the recruiting rankings.
Do transfers from another FBS school actually count in the rankings?
Transfers do not count in recruiting rankings. However, if they did....

If we delete Fields from Georgia's #1 ranked class of 2018 and add him to Ohio State's #2 ranked class of 2018, then Ohio State would have the new #1 class for 2018, with 321.90 total points (up from 318.07) and an average rating per recruit of 94.50 (up from 94.29).

If we add Fields to Ohio State's current class of 2019, then he would raise the class from #14 overall (257.35 total points) to #9 overall (approximately 271 points), and raise the average rating per recruit from 92.16 to 92.62.
