tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Got the guys we thought we'd get.
Didn't get the guys we didn't think we'd get.

probably hard to take more when you're currently sitting over the 85 limit by 6 or 7 now. There's always portal entries when everyone sees where they stand on the depth chart come Spring, but never recall them being over by more than 3 or 4 at this point of the off-season before.

Yes. It is certainly a new day. No longer can (nor should) a player be guaranteed a precious scholarship just for working hard and keeping your nose clean and studying. Bama processes good guys every year…..like 7 or 8. That little edge eventually wins a game or two when it counts.

Class Of 2024 Safety from Atlanta, GA: CJ Heard

The 6-foot, 200-pound receiver came to Columbus with his mother, and while he maybe didn’t get the offer he was hoping for, he still had a very positive experience with the Buckeyes.

“It was pretty cool,” Heard told Buckeye Scoop. “I’m going to get the offer soon. Coach wants to see me move around and stuff like that. I’ll either come back up for camp in the summer or they’ll see me in spring ball. But I really enjoyed the visit. It was top notch.”

Under Armor ran a camp in Columbus on March 20th and some Ohio State potential recruits were there. On3 Recruiting says the MVP of the camp was
2024 QB prospect C.J. Carr from Saline,Mich. No list of favorites yet but is described as "the complete package". #3 on the list was WR Ryan Pellum from Long Beach, Cal. who includes OSU among his top 4. #6 on the list was Bryce West, the DB from Glenville who is in their opinion a "heavy Ohio State lean. Both Pellum and West are 2024s. Also in their top 10 was Ryan Montgomery, a 2025 QB from Findlay rated #8 who they say is 50-50 OSU-UM. And #9 OL Austin Siereveld (2023) from Ohio who showed the versatility to both play inside and stop the edge rushers as well. Buckeyes given a 98.7% chance to get his commit...lock much?

West made his debut as the No. 7 corner prospect in the 2024 class and while he is one of the top prospects in the country, his recruitment has yet to go national at this point. It is only a matter of time before a player with his ability starts receiving attention from elite teams in the South and from the West Coast, but many teams may assume the Ohio native is an Ohio State lock and have not decided to pursue him as a result.

A thread about West will probably be needed soon

Saline, MI is to Ann Arbor what like Westerville or Worthington is to Ohio State. The HS is less than 20 min from that Stadium, FWIW

As far as Ohio State is concerned, the visit went well, according to Pellum.

“It was great,” Pellum told Eleven Warriors of his OSU visit. “I loved it up there. They loved me. And they showed me a good time.”

Pellum was offered by Ohio State in late December when the Buckeyes invited him to a practice leading up to the Rose Bowl. Since the offer, Pellum has been impressed with OSU wide receivers coach Brian Hartline.

“We're both competitive people,” Pellum said of he and Hartline. “So you know, we go well together, and he can see me on this field.”
