Apparently we are at the top of his list. He was the #2 guy coming out of HS. Seems to be a good student with no off the field troubles. We have the scholarships available. This would not be an issue if it was any other position. I say take him and let the competition begin.

And you are correct, all things equal, "we have every bit as a shot as (either of) the other two." Note that I made no mention of our chances relative to either one of the others... only our chances relative to the combination of the others.

A quality program and an empty QB room simply don't go together. But if that is genuinely what he wants - stay away.

The kid doesn't want to sit anymore. Ok, I get that. However, those 5 stars next to your name when you come out of high school only get you so far. At some point, you've got to earn your spot on the field.

Remember - this guy was a 5 star recruit too.....

Mods please move if wrong location ... might need a Fields vs Martell thread....

with that said.... Kyle is not wrong.. assuming Martell starts is a bad thing... Baldwin/Mathis/Miller all big pocket style passers... i dont know if Fields fits that.. thought he was dual threat but something to keep in mind.

Cavon Butler - OSU would like him to wait until February but it doesn't seem like he wants to do that. I expect it to be Kentucky or MSU tomorrow.

Jaden McKenzie - Done deal to OSU.

Nick Broeker - feels like he is sticking with Ole Miss which is crazy when you consider they have 8 other OL committed. Surprising to me this hasn't swung in our direction.

Jestin Jacobs - Iowa. Done.

JD Duplain - MSU. Done. MSU getting two good ones in him and Nick Samac.

Jordan Battle - still think the Alabama flip is imminent but it's shocking that nothing has come out publicly.

Zach Harrison - Michigan is out. They have been told they are out. Probably why you are seeing stuff leaked out there today. Still down to PSU and OSU and PSU is pushing hard. Won't matter. Never thought LJ Jr. would lose this kind of kid. His personality just seems to fit what Harrison responds well to. Buckeye.

To think OSU could lose a generational head coach and only lose a couple of recruits like Battle and/or Nester and posisbly add in-state guys like Eichenberg and Harrison to go along with McKenzie. I would have signed up for that two weeks ago no problem. Not saying they are definitely losing Nester, in fact I think they can hold on to him but have work to do.

Need to address DB and OL with the time left until the late signing date.

Given some of the delays/misses especially on the OL for this year and next... does that force Day’s hand sooner rather than later on assistant coaches?

Also if we lose Mathis to decommittment... Our our options really only Fields, Hurts, and Wimbush... I’m good with Fields but the other two.. no thanks

last musing... This even from last year never felt like an epic class haul.. There will be absolute studs in here no doubt but it never had the hype... even before this summer...
