Birm skewering PSU
Who was the recruit that was recruited by every school in the Midwest and said out of everyone, Franklin and Penn State were the only ones that went negative?
This, of course, was in response to Franklin crying about other schools negatively recruiting against PSU.
It's kind of hard to be too critical of Franklin. He's just trying to fit in to the Happy Valley way.Who was the recruit that was recruited by every school in the Midwest and said out of everyone, Franklin and Penn State were the only ones that went negative?

Ignore the quoted tweet. I was just posting the "hey guys, come laugh at" (PSU) gifPlease explain. I am apparently illtwitterate.
Here's a brief update as we enter the last weekend before the early signing period. With the Early Signing Period less than a week away, here is where Ohio State's recruiting class currently stands. The Buckeyes still have the #1 recruiting class in the country and the class of 2018 might end up being the highest-rated ever. If you still want to count Emory Jones (see below), Ohio State's class is up to 21 commitments, with five of them coming since my last update. One of those commitments was long expected (WR Kamryn Babb); two were mildly surprising (DT Antwuan Jackson and DT Tommy Togiai); and two came completely out of left field (DB Tyreke Johnson and QB Matthew Baldwin). The Buckeyes are still in good position to land five-star OT Jackson Carman and four-star DE Tyreke Smith, and are seemingly back in the race for four-star DE Andrew Chatfield (official visit this weekend). The staff is also making a late push for four-star DL Tyler Friday, who was long thought to be a heavy Michigan lean.
The Buckeyes have also have their fair share of bad news. Five-star defensive end Brenton Cox formally decommitted and will likely sign with Georgia. Four-star quarterback Emory Jones has has done everything to decommit except send out the "Dear Buckeye Nation" tweet, and the Buckeye staff decided to add rising star Matthew Baldwin to the class in the likely event that Jones ends up elsewhere. A pair of uncommitted five-star prospects who formerly favored Ohio State - DB Anthony Cook and DE Micah Parsons - have virtually disappeared from the radar.
As always, expect some late movement as recruits receive last minute offers to fill slots opened up by decommitments or early departures from the program (NFL, injury, transfer).

andIt's not the ones you miss that hurt its the ones you get that don't pan out
"I started asking him about it and he made this point to me and I shared this with our team. He said, 'At this point in my career, I want to coach guys I like. I want to coach guys I want to be around and that's it and I'm not going to coach anybody else.'"
Wow. That’s weird. Those 2 exact quotes stick with me as well. Second one from Bill Belichick I believe. While i wish for us to have 10 5*s and win the recruiting title every year, we're dealing with high school kids who receive an inordinate amount of attention for being so young. Every year when the drama starts I'm reminded of 2 quotes
and
when the dust settles we'll have who we have and will be grateful to have such an outstanding recruiting class.
Take the scarlet-colored junk out of your mouth. That fellating is embarrassing.Just a general comment about making an early verbal to the Ohio State University. Take this as being a homer, having scarlet colored glasses, whatever. I believe it is pretty accurate.
This is a premier place. With a hall of fame coach with 3 rings and very high quality assistants who, the last few years have consistently been sending players to the league, many in early rounds of the draft.
Then there are other important selling points like high academics, real life Wednesday’s and a massive alumni base that all paint a very good picture for life after football. Even within the realm of sports, just look at all the Buckeye TV personalities.
Point is, it’s very obvious to any recruit how they have a real shot to play for championships, make it to the league, and/or be set up very well after football.
VERY, VERY few schools offer all of that. Some offer pieces, but few offer it all.
So whether you are an in state stud, or out of state and you get an OFFER from tOSU it signals you have made it. The crem dela crem. Not saying this applies to every recruit because clearly it doesn’t. But even if you are a Texas, USC, Notre Dame, or SEC legacy going back a few generations; you get an offer from tOSU and it means something.
We all know recruiting happens earlier and earlier in these kids lives than it used to. So, if you are someone like Cox, Woodbey, or Jones and you are an elite, out of state kid and you are smitten early you take that spot. And you are excited by what that says about you and your standing nationally. You’ve made it.
In the following months, other schools, some closer to home all start working on you and all the factors of being closer to home come into play. And they slowly start eroding some of those earlier premier advantages of a place like tOSU. “We have a big alumni base, we put guys in the league, we are sexy for this and this reason”. And so these guys are all trying to weigh the business vs pleasure side of the equation. With a million people in their ear. And most are still kids mentally.
And I’ll add one last thing. On top of all this I believe Urb sells from the standpoint of “I’m not so enamored with your athleticism that I will put up with any of your [Mark May]. Nothing is given here. It’s going to be hard but trust me, it will be worth it.”
So that’s my view I try to keep in mind when I view recruiting today. I may be way off but I always keep that in mind.
