I had a lot of time this week so I crunched the numbers:

2013: OSU = 302.72 with 23 commits; B1G All-Star class = 301.71
2014: OSU = 296.06 with 23 commits; B1G All-Star class = 294.86
2015: OSU = 277.78 with 26 commits; B1G All-Star class = 277.60
2016: OSU = 289.12 with 25 commits; B1G All-Star class = 313.63
2017: OSU = 284.49 with 16(!!!!) commits; B1G All-Star class = 269.48

Sooooo yeah. It's the Big 1 and little 13 when it comes to recruiting rankings. Insane.

I didn't want to post this in either RB's thread as it pertained to all 3. But as of right now, JK Dobbins is the only RB commit for 2017, with tOSU in hot pursuit of Cam Akers. Much has been made about the comment from Dobbins alluding to him taking visits if Akers were to commit. I know some fans are worried that Dobbins may become a sudden soft commit, were that to happen, and I think we worry about that when the time comes and continue the pursuit of Akers. Akers and Dobbins are both extremely talents RBs with unique skill sets that would both prosper in this offense, along side the weapons being brought in, the O line being assembled and the superior coaching that tOSU has established. But, IMO the staff should keep tabs all season on Morgan Ellison. A kid who plays down the road, who wants to be a Buckeye, and in the case tOSU was only able to get one of AKers or Dobbins, I believe this kid commits almost on the spot. With few carries on his body(though 2 major leg injuries), he's still pretty fresh and could provide great depth. This is a great, yet delicate, spot to be in for the staff, but a place where they may have the upper hand, as no scenario doesn't sound favorable:
A. Get Dobbins and Akers
B. Get Dobbins and Ellison
C. Get Akers and Ellison

Starting to think that only 3 OL recruits for this cycle may be a little light and wishing we pursued Joel Honingford and kept him in the game longer. 11W has Jaylen Harris in this class but if we load up at WR next week as expected, I think I'd rather have Honingford given the choice. WR depth isn't nearly as big of a concern to me.

I think it's a little early to say quit yet. Although some have voiced concern on depth, there have been some positive reviews in the past and developing OL talent is ordinarily a marathon and not a sprint. I think if we want to get back in on Honigford, we might be able to. Another point to consider is that we were initially only going to take 2 OL, but only added a third due to arguably the best OL in the country wanting in.

I certainly appreciate the depth concerns, but we do have the bodies. Just a matter of whether they develop or not. And I do agree a 3rd WR isn't really crucial but Harris might just be too good to leave out of this class.

I agree. I'd also rather have Tufele in this class if not Honingford. I think OL may be fine with depth, but the interior DL has a rotation that needs to stay healthy and able to penetrate while the OL doesn't rotate, once the best 5 are found that's who plays to keep cohesion
