I think its just the off season and there's nothing better to do than make assumptions from college visits. Ferns is in no doubt, I know Hus brother being at WVU is supposed to be a big deal, but he could be a Buckeye by fall if not sooner. Sandwisch will have to come to a camp, and if he doesn't want an offer there are others that will. It's not like the 2016 LB class will be big, probably 2 maybe 3 at the most. Not a need position. IMO, we get Ferns then get very selective, and Sandwisch isn't exactly next in line

Eichenberg should be in by the beginning of May.

Ferns does have legit WVU interest but it would still be a surprise for him to go anywhere other than OSU.

McCall is in no doubt.

Layne does seem to be trending away, however I'm not sure it's him looking or OSU not recruiting him as hard as we thought they might. I think they have others higher on the list (specifically Austin Mack, Ahmir Mitchell and Binjamin Victor)

This weekend is turning out to be the biggest recruiting weekend of the spring. Outside of the Spring Game weekend of course.

Not sure how official this list is. Got it from 247 and compared it to BP's list. There's more names on the 247 list so I'll go with that, but also adding Lamonte Wade.

Very nice list. Love seeing Hall follow up his commitment so quickly with a visit...imo it will be less of a battle to keep him if we shore him up with frequent contact early on. Obviously Gary is the huge one, need to make a big time impression early and hopefully some other commits can show up to work on him.

Personally, I wouldn't mind if we signed ZERO QBs for 2016
I think our current stable plus Gibson and Burrow
added to 2017
puts us in position of not needing one in 2016
I'd rather stock up on linemen (both sides)

QB is too important to skip over for a year if we have too rated guys that want in. I'm always for bringing in linemen but not at the expense at the most important position on the field(QB). And depending on a HS junior for anything is not smart, IMO. We have no clue how Clark will play the rest of his HS career let alone once he sets foot on a college campus. Too much is being made about him coming in in 2017, he is as much a crap shoot as any other player.

You really think that Clark is a crap shoot:huh: I know that you have posted quite a bit about recruiting so I assume you know something about evaluating high school talent for calling Clark a crap shoot is just wrong in my opinion. I do not think he would have gotten an offer so soon if he were a crap shoot and I agree with the man from New Jersey I would not care if we did not take a QB in 2016 if we landed a 5* DT instead.

He had a very good freshman year, but followed it up with a very poor sophomore season. Now you never know if the team around him caused that but it's something to look at. Regardless, we'll know WAY more after his junior year so no real need to panic.

There's no sure thing in recruiting. Do you know how many "can't miss 5stars or high 4stars" didn't live up to their billing in college? A lot, off the top of my head, Mitch Mustain, Jesse Scroggins, Jimmy Clausen(the So called Lebron James of HS football), Jake Heaps, Justin Zwick, Ryan Perriloux, the list can go on and on. The fact that I do have a little info on recruiting makes me trepidatious about a 15yo kid. Just because he had an offer and committed so early doesn't guarantee success, it only says that the staff had confidence in him, and that's good but that only goes so far. I would also like a DT but a QB would also go along way in this class, especially if we can get a kid from schools that produce high end talent every year

85 scholarships
We will have 7 QBs
3 or 4 specialists (kicker, punter, snapper)
that leaves 74 scholarships for 21 field positions

with that said, Urb knows much more than I do

Where's your count for 7 coming from? In 2016 we'll have at most 5 (ignoring freshmen), no? Most likely 4. Braxton will be gone, Cardale may be gone, with JT, Collier, and the two incoming freshmen. Judging by your math though you may be factoring in a 2016 QB. In which case it would be 5, maybe 6. So 75-77 scholarships.
