tOSU Recruiting Discussion

I don't see Robertson as a DT. He is more of a skilled athlete (he played WR and TE as a soph) and is only 230 right now. He also played LB in a recent 7-on-7 tournament and was athletic enough to do it. I'm also not sure about King as a future DT. He did just win a state championship in wrestling but he did it at 220.

I agree that 4 DEs is likely the max so I don't see them being able to take both Robertson and King. I'm not sure who they like better but if it's a tie they'll likely take Robertson given his relationship with Mack.

As for DTs, OSU has backed off some on Onwenu. Other than Sammons, the most likely DT right now is Barrow who has hinted he could commit when he's in Columbus for the Spring Game. Kyree Campbell is another guy to keep an eye on but his recruitment has been all over the place.

I think King has the frame to put on a ton of weight, so that would be dependent on his development. And I agree Robertson is probably the biggest stretch of those to slide down. As to Onwenu, I was not really impressed with his junior film, so I was curious to see what the staff does with him. And I forgot about Barrow, I would love to get him in and develop him as a 3-tech.

It's a tough call turning such talented DE's away, I think the staff should really sell the versatility card to the recruits and just have mickey transform their bodies where they can move around to multiple DL positions. Nailing down 5 elite DE's in one class would be really tough with other schools mentioning the playing time aspect to them. Bosa and Hall will almost be able to move anywhere they want on the DL, Hall is a lean 250 and will grow into a monster by the time mickey turns him to 280. Cooper and Robertson are WDE all the way at this point. Barrow is a SSDE and doesn't quite have the same speed off the edge as the others above. King, i think is a must get in this class because of the wrestling aspect, and he has proven to gain and lose wieght between football and wrestling season and brings great versatility once he fills out. Haven't watched Sammons film yet but his size says OT. Bosa, Hall and King are must gets in my opinion, if they want in. On the verge of having the best DE, TE, and RB/H-Back classes that OSU has ever had. With cooper's speed and size you could just have him maintain his current weight and play OLB. Leaving more room for bodies at DE.

IMO, the rotating PT angle will shoot down negative recruitment from other schools about PT. I would see Barrow at DT, as many have mentioned, as well as King at DT with Sammons at DT or OT. Hall and Boss should stay at DE to go with Cooper and Robertson. Cooper, or even Robertson at OLB could be a slim possibility, as I see us only taking a few LBs after the past 2 classes

URBAN LOVES HIS TRACK STARS. Urban's belief in speed winning football games isn't news, but it's always interesting to see beliefs quantified.

Its March... Nothing is really even trending yet. Stump and Baker were also committed to other schools, and it ended pretty well for the good guys

Things tend to be trending away for some big time Ohio talent for 2016... Sandswich to WVU. Ferns to WVU? Layne to MSU? McCall seems to be more open to leaving the longer it goes...

Huh? I have not heard anything on Ferns except he is all S&G. Sandwisch did not have an offer. Layne does seem to be trending away but there will be a long way to go and plenty of time to persuade even if he does commit. McCall will be a Buckeye.
