tOSU Recruiting Discussion

i would easily say Clark, a guy who's had an offer and committed since his sophmore year means the staff thinks alot higher of them then they do of any recruit at any other position. you dont offer someone that early and take their commitment on top of it without having big plans for them. and last i heard Guarantano is announcing this month
Gibson will be a junior when Clark is a freshman. That just can't go through your head. If you're not good enough to beat out a talented freshman when you're a junior then you were never going to beat out either Burrow or Guarantano. The other stuff I could buy though.

Gibson wont be a junior when Clark is a Freshman. Gibson is a stone cold, guarenteed as death and taxes, the sun rising and setting type to be a RS next year, unless he wants to practice and play at WR. Gibson also isn't going to play a down at QB before Clark is a freshman baring injury or Barrett and Jones both leaving after next year (not likley). and if he cant beat out Clark that doesn't mean he cant beat out Burrows and Guarantano, thats about as hyperbole as it gets.

Firstly, if Braxton does leave early I actually think Gibson plays. He'll take over for Marshall as the wildcat package. Secondly, even if he does redshirt, a redshirt season is essentially the same as barely playing during a year, so a redshirt sophomore is basically the same as a junior. Do you think JT as a true freshman would have been even remotely as good as he was as a redshirt freshman (ignoring his injury he was recovering from high school )?

Oh, and "as hyperbole as it gets?" I'm pretty sure stating that Gibson "isn't going to play a down at QB before Clark is a freshman" is "as hyperbole as it gets."

If Gibson redshirts it will be a disappointment to our coach. He's made it clear that no one is expected to redshirt when they are recruited. They are expected to contribute on the field in some fashion immediately.

Not exactly. Our coach has said if the kids were READY, they'd play. We can't assume all frosh will see the field. If coach doesn't think they're ready, they'll redshirt. This isn't to assume Torrance won't be ready, but we can't assume he'll play, especially at QB if all 3 of Braxton, JT and Cardale return

Actions speak louder then words. He's had no problem RS guys like Lattimore, Webb, Holmes, Marshall, Conley, Booker, Hubbard, Price, Lewis, Jones, Knox, etc some of his highest ranked recruits have RS.

First of all he expressed disappointment this week that some of those guys red shirted. Secondly, you can remove the players who were injured/had physical ailments from your list. Those are obviously going to be red shirts.

First of all where has he openly expressed dissappointment. This should be good. Second of all that doens't change the fact he still has no problem RSing players. i can only think of 2 guys on the list that were injured before they got RS. I dont buy for one single second anything you say on the situation because its just not true.

not to mention he wouldn't give those players the right to remove their black stripes if he were disappointed in them.

once again, his actions have clearly spoken louder then words.
