tOSU Recruiting Discussion

If we fill with those 3 positions our wants would be: Harris, Richmond/Wariboko, Gallimore.
As of right now I think we get Weber, Bowen, Gallimore. With the talk about no one stepping up at the back up DT positions, that really is the most glaring need.

I agree but you can also never have enough Oline depth too. And we also have Thompson and Slade returning from injury next year to help with Dline depth. Either scenario works for me, just bring in lineman

Feeling good about Nick Bosa next year for starters plus a host of other names for the 2016 class. We have lots of guys with potential that are just young, ie: Munger, Sprinkle, etc. etc.
I am a guy who always wants talent in the trenches on both sides but currently I think we still need more depth on the O Line, even after Hefty Lefty joined last night. We have an incredible offense and with Urbs reputation we always will we just need to maintain a top 10 O Line year in and year out to dominate. I don't think we are fully healed from the bad O line classes a few years ago. When Urb took over the weekest position groups were O Line, LB and WR. All were pretty close to being equally poor and they have all improved. LB core the most at least so far on paper. The thing with the O line though, you are talking about 5 bodies in that group, it's hard to project HS talent for that group and a few injuries there can really derail your team more so than other position groups IMO.

An injury to any one of our starting four DL right now could potentially derail our season. We are that thin. Look at the number of reps for our starting four and see Meyer's comments on Schutt from yesterday (good kid but not living up to expectations yet). I know I sound like a broken record, but we have to get at least one of Gallimore, Beckner, Wilkins, or some other big DL (Raequan Williams?) this year. I know some people have mentioned Alabi as an OL, but I hope he shows promise as a DL when he gets here.

But arent we similarly thin at OL? An injury to one of our starters could also derail our season. We currently have a very good pass rushing defense along our front 7, and thats more important for the rest of our season outside facing most likely Wisky in the Big 10 championship or Alabama in a playoff game. Every other team is pass heavy which plays to our strengths. But we certainly have to keep our QBs upright and make holes for the RBs.
But regardless, we need linemen in a very bad way

Not in my opinion. There seems to be better depth there. Farris, Hale, and several promising freshmen.

And Underwood. Decker is the only OL that if he went out, it could derail the season due to lack of depth at LT. Farris plays interior and RT, so any of those spots are covered...the backup at LT right now is Jamarco Jones.

But I definitely think DT is a glaring weakness and we need immediate depth there even if young talent develops...by the time they get here, Bennett will be gone and Diesel/Carter will be seniors. Hopefully Hill and Munger develop inside, plus we add Alibi and hopefully Gallimore. Gallimore is the most game-ready guy inside that we have a legit chance with. If not him, hopefully Beckner or Williams. While I think we need two true DTs, the plus side is that I think Cornell is destined for DT and Jones perhaps as well.

Yeah, my bad.

Just bolstering your point that I think we have quality depth on the OL...Farris improved enough to get significant PT thus far and both Hale/Underwood nearly beat out Price/Boren to begin with. The only debilitating injury on the OL would be Decker imo.

We are going to close out strong. Bowen ,Harris, Gallimore, Cole. That's a sick way to end the class and entirely possible. Call me overly optimistic I just see us running the table from here.

That would be an awesome finish and very realistic. I think there will be one or two more (at least one when David flips), so probably a DB and maybe another OL (I think Richmond/Prince or bust though). I also would not mind another DL or WR pending numbers.
