tOSU Recruiting Discussion

I've got us with 17 open spots counting a spot for Miller and Spence.

QB- Miller, Barrett, Jones, Collier- 4
RB- Ball, Dunn, Elliott, Samuel- 4
WR- Smith, Thomas, Wilson, Brown, Campbell, Clark, Dixon, Marshall, McLaurin- 9
TE- Vannett, Baugh- 2
OL- Boren, Decker, Farris, Underwood, Dodson, Elflein, Jones, Jones, Knox, Lisle, Price, Taylor, Trout- 13
DT- Carter, Schutt, Washington, Hill, Munger, Sprinkle, Thompson- 7
DE- Spence, Bosa, Holmes, Lewis, Slade- 5
LB- Bogard, Perry, Williams, Johnson, Berger, Booker, Hubbard, Lee, McMillan, Worley- 10
CB- Reeves, Apple, Conley, Lattimore, Webb- 5
S- Tanner, Burrows, Bell, Powell, Hooker, Smith- 6
ST- Haynes, Johnston, Nuernberger- 3

Total- 68

85-68= 17

This assumes a spot for Spence, and that Greene is not on scholarship.

There are 7 players that will be 5th year players- Miller, Vannett, Farris, Underwood, Carter, Tanner, Haynes.

We have 20 commits, so right now we are 3 over unless I'm wrong.

spence could be put on a non-athletic scholarship since he is indefinitely suspended? i have no idea more of a question i guess.

Assuming his issue is substance abuse, he may be able to qualify for a medical exemption that allows him to stay on scholarship without counting against the 85 limit.

Substance abuse may be a more substantial medical condition than some of the conditions used by certain SEC coaches for the medical exemptions that allow them to over sign.

Loading up: Top committed position groups
OHIO STATE LINEBACKERS

THE NAMES:
Jerome Baker, Cleveland (Ohio) Benedictine
Nick Conner, Dublin (Ohio) Scioto
Justin Hilliard, Cincinnati (Ohio) St. Xavier

THE SITUATION:
A homegrown trio of four-star linebackers, Ohio's State crop of committed talent at the position is overwhelming. The haul includes the No. 1-ranked inside linebacker (Hillard) and the No. 5-ranked outside linebacker (Baker). Conner, who also plays inside, had a spectacular summer camp circuit and took home positional MVP honors at the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge presented by Under Armour.

THE CREAM OF THE CROP:
Hilliard is the highest touted prospect of the group and for good reason. He knows how to use his 225-pound almost perfectly and has built a reputation on quickness and jarring hits. Hillard is a disruptive force in the backfield but is also capable in coverage.

BM5: Closing Out 2015 Class; No Snow; Hoops Starts Tonight

Detailed report by Gleitman, most of which is probably old news to most of you. I found the DT info most interesting - the biggest position of need IMO. Here are his comments:

RB: Not much new. Harris, Weber, Scott. tOSU still feels good about their chances with Harris. Mentions Scarlett as a darkhorse possibility.

WR: Has intel that Cager doesn't like our depth chart (too loaded). Thinks he'll go to ND. Says to keep an eye on Van Jefferson.

OL: Predicts Bowen and Burrell to Bucks. Also mentions James, Wariboko, Prince.

DT: Predicts Gallimore to Bucks. Predicts Wilkins to PSU. Watch for possible offer to Raequan Williams.

DE: Doesn't think Bucks land Beckner, Sweat, or Gustin.

DB: Watch Garrett Taylor, Mykelti Williams, and Anthony Mckee if Carlton Davis decommits.
