tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Tlinc: I like your list, but is alexander more of a real shot than mike rogers? Would want either for our dbs
Not really sure, but I get the impression that Rogers, despite having an offer, might not be able to commit today. I think Alexander probably could.

It could be either of those guys or someone else, but I definitely think the staff wants another DB even beyond the current commits and the 2 Glenville guys. I would guess it ends up being a Southern guy that isn't getting talked about too much right now (I would put Alexander and Rogers in that category).

The 247 Class Calculator was just released today, and it is pretty damn incredible/fun/time draining. I get two takeaways from it:

1) If OSU lands Lattimore, Smith, Mavety, McMillan, and Rogers, we should have the clear #2 class. If we also add players like Solomon Thomas and/or JuJu Smith (long shots, I know), we would be right on Bama's heels for the top class. It's been said time and again, but the way Meyer recruits is just incredible, and I'm sure that we will see a couple of players come out of nowhere to suddenly have real interest in the Buckeyes.

2) Michigan's class is free falling, and will continue to do so. Right now, they have 16 commits (15 if you don't count they gray-shirt Pallante). With only ONE real target left, Malik McDowell, they're in trouble. If Hoke closes with a bunch of no-names (likely), it is possible that they will finish with a class outside of the top 15. If they lose Peppers and fail to reel in McDowell (worst case scenario), there's a real chance that they finish outside of the top 20.

Exciting, but that is a lot of "ifs"

Regardless of how we rank, we will get plenty of studs. I think the upcoming 2014 class may be even better than previous one.

I'm pretty confident with the first 5 names that I mention. After that, you're right, it's all speculation. The 2014 class will be nice no matter what.

Agree with you on the first 4. Mavety and McMillan are going to be real battles, but I like out chances of winning those battles.

If OSU gets those 4, anything else is gravy. But it would probably leave room for 2 or 3 late "Urban specials." Not sue what those will be. Could be somewhat unexpected highly rated guys (like Vonn Bell). Could be a late bloomer type (like James Clark last year). Or could be a late flip, possibly after a coaching change (like Dontre Wilson).

Should be fun to see what Meyer comes up with to fill those last few spots. Could be the guys we've been discussing (S. Thomas, M. Rogers, etc.) or could be some guys who aren't really even on our radar in a big way yet.

With the cluster that has now become UF football, it'll be interesting to see if muschamp retains his job, and if so, will his recruits remain committed due to the bad state of the program. From my little knowledge of who the staff has kept in contact with and the chances we have, the only prospect I could see us flipping is Quincy Wilson. But I wouldn't be surprised to see a number of players look elsewhere, and urban and staff to be looking scoop a few up to add as options in case we miss on our plan A guys, or just as a late commit on or around NSD. Everyone, get your popcorn ready.

Although package deals rarely come off, my recollection was that Wilson made it clear that he was going to play with Ermon Lane. Lane and Wilson committed to UF at the same time, and if Meyer could flip them both, that would fill two big needs for OSU

That is true. But I believe lane, was very high on miami, and would be harder to sway than wilson. But I wouldn't put anything past this staff in who they could land.

Not just UF but I'm looking closely at UVA, Texas, Michigan. I honestly believe we are going to get a player from one of those three

I wonder if(/when) Johnny football and Kevin sumlin leave aTm, and college station is left in shambles, will their recruits bolt and they'll be included on this list as well. They have some studs, at many positions that would work well on both sides of the ball.
