tOSU Recruiting Discussion

I wished we could fit in 9 more, that would be awesome. Bright side: this is the last year of restrictions

It's been hard to see one of the greatest recruiting staffs in the country work under the limited schollies, especially while trying to change schematically.

I'm pretty sure they're stuck at 82 total scholarships for another year after this one. 2012-2014.

Yep. The 2014 class is Urbs 3rd and last class working with tighter numbers. He only had a few months building relationships with the '12 class, and a decent amount for '13 and look how good they still were. Because the staff has had a healthy amount of time to build relationships, and a 12-0 season to sell, the 2014 class is the worst one so far in feeling the numbers squeeze and its sucks. To be in on so many high level guys and not be able to fit them all in is killing me. Not getting ahead of ourselves but assuming another impressive campaign on the field this year, no schollie limits, and a long courtship period the '15 class should get even better . (It's amazing how spoiled I have become in a short amount of time but it is a fine time to be a Buckeye indeed)

The Andrews commit got me looking at Oklhahoma's class..

Mark Andrews - 6'6" 230 lbs **** #12 WR, #91 Nat
Dallis Todd - 6'5" 210 lbs **** #21 WR, #162 Nat
Jeffrey Mead - 6'5 1/2" 170 lbs *** #66 WR

The B12 is going to need taller DBs.

Really?!? Thought they'd take either in brown or Dixon in a heartbeat.
What I said is my IMO.

Reasoning being, with Kwon, Smith, Lattimore, Holley and Prince, we have higher priorities. I don't even think we have 5 scholarships left in this class though.

edit: And the staff is recruiting Maverty too, and will probably accept his commitment. Which even complicates matters. The staff must be knowing something we don't know. Just don't know what.

2 schollies did open up due to unfortunate circumstances with Adam Griffin and Jamie Woods.
They are both done as players and I wish them the best.
Wood is a 5th year senior. His condition doesn't change things. On the other hand, Griffin's injury does open up a schollie for next year though.

I would have been inclined to agree but with the recent attrition (Luke Roberts, Perkins, likely Griffin due to injury, etc.) I think the staff knows there are more spots available than we might think. Honestly, we've accepted a couple commitments I was surprised about, so I think there is a decent chance we take Brown and/or Dixon. Not sure where the optimism is coming from but I suppose his recruitment has been quiet though.

And a side bar after the Samuel commitment: I think we don't take a RB unless it is Mixon or someone of that caliber. Either of Campbell and/or Samuel would make great backs and if Dontre is playing a lot of RB in our offense, I could see either of these two doing the same, although I think Campbell is more likely to primarily play RB.
