I think that the argument over oos vs Ohio kids is so overblown. Kids want a school that will put them in the nfl. If you want to be an elite team in college football you must recruit outside of your state, unless you're Texas, Florida or California. And even then those schools still poach top recruits from other states. There isn't a team that can be named in the top 10 with all in state players. We should be happy that we're getting top oos talent. The thought that Ohio kids will play harder in the game is foolish. Most of the kids don't fully embrace the Game anymore. If it did then why did 4 out of 5 suspended players last year happen to be from Ohio and so easily willing to sell their gold pants. And I'm sure they're not even close to being the first from Ohio to do so. Fans put way too much stock and kids decisions sometimes and think because they bleed their schools colors that the athletes always will too. I highly doubt that Doran grant will fight harder than bradley roby or our highly talented LBs won't fight their heart's out in the game

That's why Urban is recruiting the uber-competitive kid. I bleed scarlet and would run through a wall for OSU football. But my 6 foot 170 lb frame wouldn't do much against that wall. That is why I love to hear about the competitive nature of practices and drills. The players will be chomping at the bit to go against someone other than an OSU player. Plus, look at his record against rivals. Good enough for me.

Let's not forget Meyer has a very good record in rivalry games at his previous stops before Ohio State . He is a winner through and through, an no doubt will be able to focus his attention in on our rivalries too.

The idea that a large portion of tOSU caliber in state caliber talents understand the hatred and rivalry as much as the fans do is offbase. I mean some of the kids do, as a result of their parents or picking up on it as a kid, but to a lot of these kids, its the furthest thing from their mind as they move through high school. Far more important is the coaches emphasis on the rivalry and Meyer has exhibited so far that he has a firm grasp on just how crucial beating scUM is.

We Still Need A Playmaker

The 2012 recruiting class was impressive, and the 2013 class is shaping up pretty well also; However, I feel that we have yet to pick up a true playmaker. We missed out on Davonte Neal, Stefon Diggs, and possibly James Quick. Urban Meyer has made it known that they are still searching.

I'm sure taivon Jacobs would say otherwise as would ezekial Elliott. And were still in the running for Devon Allen, Shelton Gibson as well as James quick. We have time to close strong for the 2013 class.

Opening the sentence with a kid who tried to commit and was denied is not a great start. Obviously OSU needs as many playmakers as they can find but I wouldn't include Neal in that list of guys they missed on.

I'd say they did a terrific job being in prime striking position for a huge Louisville homer in James Louis. With the very real possibility of a promotion for Charlie Strong, Urban is primed to flip him.

Marshall and Elliot are elite playmakers and give Meyer those "#3s" he covets that can take inside/outside carries and catch balls out the balls. Of course Elliot more of a RB and Marshall more of a WR but both can play those pivot positions.

Just need to stockpile talent. Urban had Rainey/Demps/Cooper/Harvin/Caldwell/Murphy/Hernandez/Ingram. He had a lot of great weapons in his time there. Just keep recruiting great players and it will take care of itself. James Quick certainly won't hurt, if we don't get him then hopefully Gibson or Allen and get some studs next year.

Baugh/Elliot/Marshall/Barrett is a really good start. Jacobs could be an offensive weapon too. Another year like this year and we'll be in great shape.

Olympic caliber sprinters are a bit hard to find.....

That said, 'track speed' and 'football speed' should not be confused. If you want straightline speed, there are some choices out there, but if you want football speed I think you would be hard pressed to find a better talent than Jacobs. He has the "extra gear" you speak of; his burst/acceleration and COD are great, as are Elliott's. I'll take that all day every day over an elite straight line guy.
