tOSU Recruiting Discussion

So, we have Jalin and now today Taivon. Knowing UFM desire for more playmakers on offense, do we land 2 more? 2 from Foster/Quick/Allan/Gibson. Wow. I can't even imagine.

That would put us at 17. Add Bell, Mitchell for 19. 20 for Tyquan and 21 for an OL recruit.

YES PLEASE!!!!!! That class would be absolutely sick. And very, very balanced too. Talk about covering every base!

I have no idea if 21 is our number, seems like I read 20 or 21 total.

Urban has talked fondly before about his best recruiting classes at FLA and you can just see in his eyes he is trying for the same thing in this, his first full class. He is well on his way to making this happen. Look out B1G.

That's a dream class! Every commit I could envision playing very well in our schemes on offense and defense. A lot of size and speed, and to think, the 2014 class should/could be better.

Do we have more commits earlier than normal? Is the BP Recruiting Team expecting any remaining targets in the '13 class to verbal at or immediately after FNL? Also, will the staff hold back an open scholarship or two for kids who may dramatically improve their standing during the 2012 high school season?

At this point last year, tOSU had 12 verbals, so it's not too big of a difference.

Mitchell isn't attending FNL, but he's supposed to be deciding at the end of the month....

Here is who I think (would like?) to see in the class.

16. Mike Mitchell: I think lock)
17. Tyquan Lewis: I think lock)
18. Donovan Munger: I think lock. Take him and move either him or Price to OG)
19. Von Bell (Us and Tennessee; like our chances here a lot)
20. Robert Foster: us, Alabama and Pitt. From the way he's been trying to get back in UM's good graces, looks like he wants to be a Buckeye. We'll see if Meyer still wants him.
21. James Quick: Us and L'Ville. I really like our odds now.

That would give us 2 LBs, 1 OL/DL, 1 S and 2 WRs.

I thought Storm was a senior? Wouldn't he be off the roster by then?

I thought he was a redshirt junior...can't get the scholarship chart from work. If he is, then my bad.

EDIT: Googled him and he is indeed heading into his senior year and he has played in each of his three years here. Non-factor now...

Remember tSUN whining last year about UFM being able to recruit for the entire month of December while they had to work at their day jobs?

Well the entire staff will being going hard recruiting the December.

Although they might be able find and attract a few players who develop only in their senior year, I believe the real impact of the recruiting extravaganza in December will be in the 2014 class.

The 2013 class is looking to be more or less fait accompli, and I believe there will be an influence from what happens on the field in 2012.

IN summary, December is for the 2014 class, IMHO.

I guess that is one silver-lining to no bowl this year: more time for the coaches to recruit 2014 players.
