i think that those of us who want him off the team, are only saying so because he's a backup RB. what would you guys be saying if teddy or santonio or hawk, any one of our star players, was caught for a similar misdeed? i highly doubt you guys would want them kicked off the team.
i don't think that tibor is saying that tressel is a bad coach. what he is pointing out is the hypocricy of buckeye fans, and sports fans in general. when we like our coach, if a player messes up, it's the player's fault (as it should be). but when we don't like a coach...we will use anything to tear him down, even stuff that he has no control over. tibor just has a very rough way of putting things because he likes to see you guys flip out.
haw is going to be punished...but off the team??? let's look at the following misdeeds:
citation for possession
DUI
getting into a fight (Marlin Jackson, et. al.)
choking a QB when he is lying on the ground defenseless (probably the most disgusting act I have ever witnessed on the football field...it's amazing that we didn't get more heavily attacked on that one)
and the type of punishments that the guilty parties receive, whether it's at OSU or another school, is usually seldom more than a few games. usually it's just one game. i'm not saying that this is right or wrong...just giving you some examples to chew on.
espn is not going to make a big deal about this, although miami fans and the like will have some fun and use this as more ammo. espn was interested in exposing a "corrupt" program...that's big news. a backup RB getting cited for possession? there will be a small blurb, and that's it. it's not like they can accuse tressel of arranging for bushels of weed to be delivered to haw by his crafty brother, Dick (or can they?
)
