There is an old story about a bus driver messing up and making Woody and the team late to the stadium on a road trip. Everyone thought Woody would go ballistic on the guy but he said he didn't blame an incompetent for being incompetent, he blamed the guy who hired him.

I don't blame Jim Bollman. He's the same guy he's been for the past 10 years. That's like entering Rita Rodriguez in a beauty contest and being pissed off she didn't win it for you.

I blame Jim Tressel for keeping Bollman around all these years. I blame Gene Smith for (allegedly) forcing Fickell to keep Bollman. I blame Fickell for not mitigating the damage by telling Bollman to go sit in the corner while someone capable ran the offense and instead handing the offense over for the incompetent to run carte blanche.

While Bollmans ineptitude is breathtaking, the fact he's in a position to still do damage after all these years is the bigger issue.

i blame Ty Willingham!

(great post.)

Yes the Bucks blew one. It illustates what Braxton meant to the offense.By the way the offensive game plan early was right on target. What would the Huskers have done if Taylor Martinez got hurt in the game and was unable to continue?

It is going to be a long season for the players, the fans and the blamers.

A friend posted this on his facebook (not an Ohio State fan):

There's too many green dots on that chart.

I just watched on U-tube a clip from the 2008 Spring Game. Joe B. looked like a different player than the one we have seen this season. When the coverage was there he didn't hesitate but pulled the ball down and got positive yardage and his throws for the most part were on time. I wonder what happened in the 3 years since this clip was made?

The only constant was that he threw only one short pass, and the rest were either intermediate or long passes. Good to know we haven't changed our passing game philosophy during that time period...:(

Paralysis by thought... When you've had it beating into your head for years that you are not to throw an int it kills that instinct he might have had. Remember in Tressel ball a sack isn't any where near as bad as a turnover.

Honestly he looks like he might do better with a freshman playbook now. 3 step drop 1 read if not tuck it and go up the gut.

I don't want to bash anyone, but seriously folks. Ok, I'll hop on the bandwagon too.

The only snaps JB should be taking from center are on field goals and PATs. Hoping like mad that Brax is ok.

Oh, and I woke up at 5 AM with the first thought on my mind (before coffee even) was HEY the game's still on! I was flyin high until Brax went down and stared at the ESPN Game Tracker in stunned disbelief as the collapse ensued. I nearly threw my laptop out the window (and went out behind it) from the 6th floor.

GO BUCKS!!

Just got back from the long 7 hour drive home. We called it the trail of tears. If I had posted last night, I would have been banned. Its amazing what a bucket of beer and a good night's sleep will do for one's perspective.

As for the experience, it was great. Props to the Nebraska fan base for being the most welcoming and frendly fans I have ever encountered. This was true before, during and after the game. The Nebraska stadium is a shrine, it has the same feeling as our own, a feeling of history and legends and "if these walls could talk". The Nebraska fans sitting around us (Row 88 in Section 41) have the same kind of self depreciating humor that we buckeye fans have. They were extremely puzzled when the entire section sang "we don't give a damn for the whole state of meatchicken".

On the plus side, I think Braxton Miller came of age last night. Too bad he didn't get the result he deserved. I had the feeling that the defense's conditioning broke down in the fourth quarter. Plus, we did not have the speed to keep up with their little running back. I hope that Guiton gets a shot to play next week. We have nothing to lose at this point, and I seriously can't watch another game with Joe under center.

I would make that trip again in a heartbeat. It may be awhile, so we will need to exact out revenge on the basketball court.

Go Bucks. :osu: :oh:

Edit: Runzas has given me serious gas. :wink2:

:io:

I also wanted to say how gracious and friendly the Nebraska fans were. My buddy and I (he is a Nebraska alum) drove in from CO, played some golf in the morning (Quarry Oaks was great) and then went down for the game.

It started in the morning at the golf course... people would see my OSU gear, and immediately walk over to say hello, shake my hand, and welcome me to Nebraska. It was like that all day. We walked through the tailgates, and it seemed like I couldn't go 10 steps without someone offering me a beer. We were in the north end zone, and they showed nothing but class... when they were behind, and then as they pulled ahead.

I hope to go back - great atmosphere, and great fans.

It was a long long long long drive back. I swore a lot. Grumbled even more, but it was a fantastic weekend. We went to the Broncos game yesterday too, so I'm looking for the plate number for the Mack Truck that must have run me over. I'm gettin too old for this stuff.

Bo Pelini's Postgame Press Conference:

http://www.omaha.com/article/20111009/BIGRED/710099855/-1#video

This is about as bullish that you'll see a head coach after a game. He was defending the hell out of Martinez.

LOL - you think he likes the Media?

I don't blame Bo for disliking media. I do not need anyone to form an opinion for me or tell me what and how to think! They are usually malicious and want to spread discord in much that they do. For me, just the facts and I can make up my own mind. They love to place blame....

Another observation regarding the Cornhusker fans' relationship with Bo. I get the sense that there is at least some level of dislike of the coach for almost all Husker fans, ranging from mild to strong. Folks I talked to say its not about wins and losses, but rather the way he projects an image of the university. What thinkest the rest of you?

Here's how I see it...

First, for those folks that are talking about "it's not about wins or losses," This is who they are:

pinocchio.jpg

Because when the team went 7 - 7 under Solich, they were looking for his head too. How do you think we got to know Bo Pelini? We may be some of the best fans in the country, but we are also some of the most spoiled in the country. When you have a guy that wins no less than 9 games a season for almost 30 years, you tend to get spoiled.

Second,

The folks that are whining about the 'image of the university' are a bunch of the blue hairs that are old fashioned. I, am not one of these. Folks can whine and complain about Bo all they want to, but guys like Saban and Kelly are just as fired up as head coaches as Bo is. And quite frankly, some of those people who are complaining about him now are the ones who wanted him here in the first place. No doubt the guy wears his heart on his sleeve, but answer me this - what defensive minded coach doesn't?

http://movieclips.com/mAP5d-necessary-roughness-movie-wallys-pep-talk/

Lastly,

I'm not making excuses for him...but the fans in this state are just as bad as they were accusing Taylor Martinez' dad of being last year (here's my proof of that):

Harassment of Martinez and his girlfriend: http://www.opposingviews.com/i/sports/ncaa-football/big-ten/nebraska%E2%80%99s-taylor-martinez-harassed-school-over-bad-play

Local Omaha newspaper article on Martinez and Bo: http://www.omaha.com/article/20111006/BIGRED/710069730/0

This is the guy we wanted here. All we need is some consistancy on offense, and some better play on D, and we're fine.
