Game Thread tOSU at Nebraska, Sat October 8, 2011, 8 pm ET, ABC

I think this loss to Nebraska is the crystal ball for things to come for the rest of the season. I had serious reservations about the Buckeyes playing Nebraska given their performance to date. When I initially saw the score, it was 27-10. I said to myself, "Alright! Looks like they have a chance to win if they can hold on." I put my DVR on record with the intention of watching the game when I came back after running errands. When I came back to watch the recorded game, a college sports highlight program was on and there it was....the final score. I was speechless. I can't express the bitterness and angst I felt. As things stand at this point, I see no less than three more defeats for the once mighty Buckeyes. Sorry folks, but I see no need for political correctness, excuse making nor delusional fantasy about the rest of the season. I knew when the scandal broke and Tressel left, it was going to be a sharp lead pencil in the eye of Ohio State football.....

I mean, I get your new and all, but you didn't even watch the game? You didn't watch the beginning - you saw the 27-6 score - left and came back?

Now you want to come to BuckeyePlanet and tell us all how many games we're gonna lose?

Edit: Nice avatar.

Well, before you get your panties knotted up, I returned home after getting my car from a repair shop. I turned the game on and erroneously made the assumption OSU would win (given the score at that point). I turned on the DVR record with the intention of watching the game after I returned from a number of pending business errands. I'm sure I'm not the only one who records games with the intention of watching them later in the evening?.

Now you want to come to BuckeyePlanet and tell us all how many games we're gonna lose?

Ummm....Yes, I am new to the board but there is a decent chance I have been watching and documenting OSU football longer than you. So, I am no rookie wannabe fan. And as far as the loses I predicted -I stand by what I said! Given their present performance, they will suffer at least three more defeats (and yes, I hope to hell I'm wrong but I doubt it)! Sorry if this hurts your pride or conflicts with your dreams my friend but it is what it is.......

Here's how I see it...

First, for those folks that are talking about "it's not about wins or losses," This is who they are:

pinocchio.jpg

Because when the team went 7 - 7 under Solich, they were looking for his head too. How do you think we got to know Bo Pelini? We may be some of the best fans in the country, but we are also some of the most spoiled in the country. When you have a guy that wins no less than 9 games a season for almost 30 years, you tend to get spoiled.

Second,

The folks that are whining about the 'image of the university' are a bunch of the blue hairs that are old fashioned. I, am not one of these. Folks can whine and complain about Bo all they want to, but guys like Saban and Kelly are just as fired up as head coaches as Bo is. And quite frankly, some of those people who are complaining about him now are the ones who wanted him here in the first place. No doubt the guy wears his heart on his sleeve, but answer me this - what defensive minded coach doesn't?

Lastly,

I'm not making excuses for him...but the fans in this state are just as bad as they were accusing Taylor Martinez' dad of being last year (here's my proof of that):

Harassment of Martinez and his girlfriend: http://www.opposingviews.com/i/spor...taylor-martinez-harassed-school-over-bad-play

Local Omaha newspaper article on Martinez and Bo: http://www.omaha.com/article/20111006/BIGRED/710069730/0

This is the guy we wanted here. All we need is some consistancy on offense, and some better play on D, and we're fine.

Mark Dantonio

As for the game in question: Ohio State showed that they are more susceptible to swings of emotion than they have been since at least 2004. The takeaway for me is that I hope that things go their way early on the 29th or it could be a very long night.

I DVR'd the game while in Mexico. I finally made it to the fumble in the 3rd quarter. I stopped there. Since the outcome is evident, I find it to be a happier/simpler place to believe that the Buckeyes go ahead and stay ahead by three touchdowns for the remainder of the game. I have no need for catharsis right now. Gotta admit, Braxton looked stellar. Don't know why we didn't through the TE screen to Stoney in Champaign.
