All due respect to Ibrahim, but I don't see anybody beating us with an RB. I am more concerned with an experienced QB against an unproven back 7. That could get them a few TDs, but not enough to keep pace with our O provided Stroud limits his mistakes. That could be addressed with a simple game plan that features short passes and lots of running behind a very large OL.

But Day wont go that way and will just blow them up.

First half could be close. By the 4th Q the DL and OL will take control and we will be racking up the points.

Damn I'm arrogant.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the LBs will be better this year than last and the secondary better be (that bar isn't very high, at the moment). I also think that any of the three QBs who have been there (and possibly even Quinn) could win this game because it's not going to be on them to win it. We've got maybe the best O-line I can remember, the best group of receivers we've ever had, and solid+ RBs. Defensively, this line should be incredible, the LBs are relatively inexperienced, but are athletic and have been in the program, and the secondary has more athletic talent (however young) than last year. It's a three TD win.

Minus the QB which is my prime concern. I fully expect CJ to play well but for some reason I just don't feel great about this game.

I think it's our back 7 giving me so much concern. Yes we have some experience at LB but no starting experience. Also half our secondary is pretty green too...

Wish we could've gone Akron, Tulsa, Oregon and then Minnesota but such is life.

Barring a 3+ turnover event I think OSU will overcome his inexperience. That kind of performance is possible but not highly likely.

The talent surrounding him is substantial and we've all seen what can happen when you plug a new QB into a monster supporting structure. Also take heart in how fucking good Ryan Day is as a play caller. We've never had an offensive mind like him on staff (without a HC in his way) in my 40 some odd years of watching.

All the reasons you've listed to respect Minny but barring a TO fest, no reason to fear Minny.

Ryan Day is the reason to be calm IMO... he will run the ball if it's there or they'll throw for 700 if it's there.

In my gut and on paper, I agree. If talent is what carries the day, we absolutely crush Minny. But the first game Thursday night on the road with a new QB and qualified opponent (and good coach imo) makes me cautious that this could be a fight. I think we win and hell, we could trounce them if we play to our talent, but I am not in the camp that thinks we bet them by 21+ as much as I want that to happen. If I am wrong, I will be dancing on a Golden Gopher's grave while doing it.

Completely the same... only way this is a cover for Minnesota is if they really play well and we don't. Still think we win like 45 to 27 or something like that but I think we score late for the cover.

As was pointed out. The biggest mismatch is our WR vs their DB. So how do they combat that without sacrificing their run support? Short answer is they can't.

Either they blitz and take their chances or they sit back and get absolutely picked apart. A tough matchup for them.

Provided our secondary doesn't blow donkey dick we'll he okay.
