tOSU at Minnesota, Thurs. Sep 2nd, 8 ET on Fox

Couple thoughts...

Just strange game. We get an INT that's called back, we give up a 4th and 1 inside the 40 and a tipped ball is picked off. I thought we'd rotate more at WR and less on Defense. IMO we would benefit to do the opposite. Substitute a lot more at WR and much less on Defense.

And just those 3 plays could have accounted for a 28 point deficient against the Buckeyes:

1. INT called back, the TD we didn't get and the one they continued the drive and got
2. 4th and 1, a TD they got in lieu of punting
3. tipped ball INT, Minnesota (short field) TD on our turnover.

I know the starting corners were out but the defense was shredded in obvious pass situations (with the RB out) by one of, if not the, most pedestrian passing attacks they will play all year. Tanner Morgan is not good. They were completely one dimensional at the end and their best WR was out.

Names have changed but it feels like I just watched the 2020 Buckeye defense.

There is time to get better but man oh man do they need it. Really disappointed in the D.
I disagree... Morgan is better than most QBs we will play. Yeah he doesn't have the skill to throw to but Morgan is a solid QB.

Regarding the non-targeting on the late fumble, I thought I saw the receiver complete the catch, take three steps, look at Ransom, and they lowered their heads into each other with Ransom not leading with his crown but more his shoulder and face mask. I think the view with the receiver looking at the defender and lowering his head into the hit gave the replay officials an out to not call targeting.

Two things:

1. Kerry Coombs better update his résumé
2. Had PJ Fleck had a better team, he would have beaten us.

honestly Fleck probably could land a top tier program job next year if he desired to leave. The guy is a character but I haven’t doubted his coaching since his days at WMU. I can respect that he gets more out of 2-3 stars than some schools can out of 4 stars. I think he’s earned that level of respect by now.

Lots of comments; however, the bottom lines are...

1. It was clean (hard) hit and a good football play. The "defenseless player" argument is bullshit. He wasn't helplessly falling to the ground, he was a WR with the ball running for a TD. I'm sorry for you pussies that don't like physical contact in football, but in football you are allowed to tackle (hit) those guys.
2. It was a catch and a fumble, and the early whistle probably cost Ohio State a TD on the play.

I'm not saying it was targeting, but there was 100% head to head contact. You don't fall limp to the ground like that without taking a shot to the head. I think it was a solid play by Ransom, we were lucky the refs didn't call it based on what we saw in the past.
