Yea, the calls for Williams and Ross are so moronic when you have a senior that seemingly averages 3-12 shooting :shake:

Neither player replaces Buford on the court. Ross can't defend yet and you cannot put Thomas, Williams and Sullinger on the court together. So yes, it's a moronic, stupid, whatever thought to put out there.

Let's not forget that Buford won a recent game down the stretch all by himself.

I always find it funny we make fun of fans that bitch about the refs after we stomp them...

now we bitch about the refs after a loss

I know probably every fanbase does it, but it's still funny

I've been here for over 4 years and I'm still waiting to see a game thread where the Bucks lose and it doesn't turn into a bitch fest about how the refs screwed us. I just wish I could get odds on it in Vegas.

But what about Thomas, Williams and Ravenel

Does Bilas count as one of "us" these days? Because he sure was bitching a lot about how OSU got screwed by the refs tonight.

Due to how many other players not performing up to their potential? I'm not saying it HAS to be Buford that goes to the bench in order to make room for Ross. But some changes need to be made. Whether that be the starting 5 getting some much needed inspiration to win, or shaking it up a bit. I'm all for it.

These are the same pieces that took Duke apart. They are the right pieces.

This team is clearly not playing its best right now. Still, they were a couple of possessions, a couple of threes, some made free throws, or a couple of different calls from pulling off a win on the road against a very good and motivated team.

I agree with the sentiment above. Calling for new pieces - until Matta believes they are ready - is simply moronic.

Potential? Who ever performs to their potential on every game?

Thad Matta has won at least 20 games every year he's been a head coach. I'd much rather trust in him than the whining and blathering I see on this board after a loss.

I just don't really see what harm is being done by giving Ross a go. If he plays poorly, there is this thing called a bench. He's very familiar with the bench. I think, if given the opportunity, he will do whatever it takes to avoid going back to the bench.

My biggest problem is, not only is he on the bench, but he's at the END of the bench. He isn't even considered unless it's garbage time.
I'd be interested to hear how his defensive game is developing... that might be what is keeping him from seeing the court (pure speculation on why... I have no idea where his defensive development is). Matta has been known to play freshman that hustle and get after it on defense. Case in point: there's this guy named Sam Thompson who is playing some pretty good defensive ball right now. He got some quality minutes today and only make one noticeable mistake, fouling Hardaway on a 3, that ended up not hurting too bad since Hardaway only hit 1 of 3 free throws. Other than that I thought he did a pretty good job against Hardaway and played better than Smith today. Unfortunately he doesn't even look to score on the offensive side so that limits the scorers to Sully, Thomas and Buford.

This team was a few possessions from pulling out the win. A made bucket here or there and it puts more pressure on scUM... who knows what would have happened. They need to shoot better than 39% from the field and not turn the ball over so much if they want to make deep tournament runs.

Matta has good and bad sides to his tactics. He gives his players a very long leash most of the times throughout the years it has worked. Forever this year for stretches it hasn't. I don't expect him to change his style though.

Funny thing...Matta is what 15-3 vs UM? OSU football has won 7 of last 8? Funny UM fans so pompous these days
Especially considering they needed these circumstances to eek out wins at home. Order will be restored SOON.

It's disappointing how much more talented OSU is to most teams yet they play to the level of their opponent almost all of the time.

Thad's recruiting is off the chart...unfortunately they play more than tight. It's an epidemic, and they do it all the time. This team would thrive in an environment that was more open. They just play tight, and the offensive system is weak anyways...

If these guys were told to push the ball and utilize their athleticism a lot more, games like this wouldn't be as frequent...think Steve Fisher at Michigan or John Calipari at Kentucky....both avid believers in letting the kids make plays and create in the moment

Is what it is though...I love love Thad and the talent he brings in. I'd never be an advocate of letting him go. Just the talent doesn't match the product on the court..
